Hagelin has been fine. I think we're just so used to seeing him be an impact player every shift that seeing him play decently is like watching him "struggle".
I though Henrik looked like he did before this little slump after he gave up the one bad goal.
Our passing was off and there was a lack of finish but Callahan won it with a great shot. Overall our shot selection was dumb. I also am annoyed with dumping the puck all the time especially for icings and when we have numbers when we counter.
GWG assist aside I thought MDZ was terrible defensively and handling the puck. I am a fan of his but he needs to pick it up.
I don't think Hags is playing poorily. I think Gabs is not doing ANYTHING with the ice he is getting. He is allowing Richards and Hags to do all the work. Then he gets the puck and unless he has a perfect skating lane, he just throws the puck back in the corner.
I expect to see that stuff from Cally or Dubi. I don't expect to see that crap from someone who is supposed to be a dynamic scorer.
Gabs isn't anticipating, skating, or showing a shred of effort. If that is how he expects to play in the playoffs, I hope he gets traded in the offseason. Leading scorer or not.
Ridiculous.
He's been better than Hagelin all season. In fact, he's been our best forward the past 3 years besides Callahan. Yes, even with his bad year last year, his first year and this year give him that.
He has a bad game and I have to listen to this stuff again?
I didn't think Gabby was that bad...he was moving his feet, causing the defensemen to work. Obviously, he and Hagelin weren't generating too much, but I don't think it's cause for concern.
Need Nashville to go all neutral zone trap on Pitt tomorrow.
vs. Buffalo
@ Toronto
@ Minnesota
@ Winnipeg
vs. Montreal
then a nice little Rivalry week against Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington, and Philadelphia.
I'm hoping that a 6-2-1 finish can get us into that 1st spot. That would mean Pittsburgh would have to finish out 8-1-1 to pass us since we own the tiebreaker. I don't care how on fire they've been; that's tough to do. They have a couple against Philly, a couple against the Islanders (always pesky against the division), and 6 more against OTT, NAS, NJD, BOS, BUF, and us, none of which will be easy games like they got with that atrocious, defense-less Winnipeg performance last night.

We are getting towards the playoffs, he is becoming a non-factor. I don't care if he scores 70 goals in the regular season.
If he continues on his play when the playoffs come rolling on: what the hell good is he?
This is a situation of effort. If the effort was there and the goals weren't coming, I wouldn't say a damn thing.
Its a MAJOR concern. Our scoring depth is starting to come, and he decides to coast.
I will tell you one thing, Kovalchuck doesn't pull that crap.
Lol, ok. Yeah, he's coasting. You know, teams gameplan to stop the best players on the other team. Sometimes it works. If you think he isn't putting in the effort, you need to get your eyes checked.
Steve Kouleas and Craig Button just had a nice little talk about Callahan on That's Hockey Tonight. Kouleas said he thinks Callahan is the 2nd best American player in the league behind Parise. Cally is a monster, he does everything.
Who do you think captains USA at the next Olympics (assuming NHL players go)?
gabby just had a bad game but trading him no way...by the way kovalchuk is -6 this year compared to gabby's +16...i take gabby and what he gives us..GOALS.
Hagelin's a rookie fresh out of the NCAA. We saw Stepan hit a little wall late last season. Hagelin is still putting up points.
People got to realize that every team is fighting tooth and nail to get in or get a higher seed. There's less ice out there to work with. Hagelin excels in the open ice. The Red Wings stack 5 guys below the hashes in the dzone, and 5 guys below the red line in the neutral zone.
Hagelin hustles every shift. That's good enough for me.
I loved the game. The Wings got a point so it's better than nothing. Could've gone either way during the regulation already. I was certain that the puck would take a bad bounce off the boards during the last minute as Conks was spending so much time off his crease. I think that this matchup could be a very potential SCF matchup, if we even make the playoffs..
Anyway it was real intense especially during the 3rd and I just wanted to say that you were a tough opponent, liked it. Have a good rest of the season y'all!
EDIT: A double post in separate threads. I'm dumb.

Cally ? Parise ?
Parise doesn't have leadership qualities like Callahan does, imo.
He will captain the 2014 team in Sochi.
