they were not good tonight. the red wings controlled the puck at whim against them. They can struggle, its ok, they always bounce back. Rangers played a good game. not complaining, just making an observation.

Aside from a few horrible meltdowns, the Rangers rightfully earned that victory.

Dubinsky and Callahan had fantastic games.

Couldn't have scripted a better story for Cally. Beautiful goal too.

After letting in a softie, Hank played a real impressive game.

I thought Staal played really well too.

Overall, even if they lost the extra point I was happy. They played a strong game top to bottom. Team defense stepped up, very controlled pace.

Pierre was so close, it looked like he was dying to slip a tongue into Cally's mouth.

Pierre should do his interviews with leather buttox-less chaps, and a cowboy hat. It would be more honest.

Oh my God for freaking real! And it's not even just them... Steps, Richie and Zuke have been doing it too. I can't see Torts encouraging that crap

Edit: Meh, I read that wrong.. thought you meant the blind backhand passes they've been doing. THOSE HAVE TO STOP TOO.

Agreed, I saw Cally one time have the puck on his forehand, unpressured, and he decided to put it to his back hand for a pass. I don't understand why he would do that. Its like purposely gimping yourself on a pass. The backhand pass is mostly ineffective even if your Sidney Crosby.

Passing from the backhand almost always limits accuracy, and speed.

I wouldn't say Gabby was "coasting" or honestly even playing that different than he normally does.

But the fact of the matter is, when the game slows down and the refs allow interference to creep up (end of season + playoffs) he has a difficult time being as effective as he is at other times.

That is exactly why secondary scoring (+ a PP...) is crucial in the playoffs. Not that this is exactly news RE Gabby.

I've been very critical of Dubinsky this year, but he's played 2 solid games in a row. Hat's off, hope he keeps it up!

Looks like the Rangers are getting their act together again. Still some rough patches and miscues, such as certain five-holes and missed defensive assignments. But they're moving in the right way after a rough patch, and hopefully they will be in full flight for the playoffs.

Ice really looked choppy and slow tonight, that and two good back-checking teams made this a grinders game. At least part of the reason the Richards line was ineffective even strength and the Callahan-Dubinsky line shone. That said, I thought the Rangers controlled most of the game, except for a scary few minutes late in the 3rd.

Good to have two lines that can score, but the 4th line looked lost out there.
