Well he has played with the Twins before and if he signs a cheap contract and bounces back to being a 20 goal scoring 40-50 point player with them, it would be a steal. I know that DSP is starting to play well on the 1st line too but I would like to put him on 3rd line to bring in size and hitting there. I can see DSP working in other lines while I think that Penner only works with Getzlaf and Perry.
Way too much hopeful attitude revolving Penner. At least we put Gomez out of the discussion.
I don't really believe this is just an outlier year for Penner. He's been putting on weight...not good weight, mind you. He's not in the same shape as he was in 06-07 and it's obvious. And remember his wife is divorcing him. Giguere was benched to start the 06-07 playoffs even though his kid was fine. I don't know the details of his relationship, but it can't be easy on a guy to slowly lose the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life on. That can and has affected his play immensely. Why do we need that emotional disaster on our top line?
No thanks. I'd give Etem a spot before I gave Penner one (yes I realize how immature and bad for business this would be in reality)
I think DSP could be in for a top line LW spot next year. If it works for the rest of the year, I would do this:
Hags can stick around if he signs for a million bucks or less. I love the Bonino/Palmieri/Ryan line, but I don't feel comfortable relying on it as a second line. If we can't get anyone better for the 2nd line LW and Center, I would try it for sure. 4th line center should be easy to get, and Parros may or may not be back. I won't take a shot at filling the UFA spots, but that's what I see with our current roster for next year
