I just get this nasty feeling in my stomach when I try finishing a sentence During the Buffalo game, I had to get up and put my ipad on my washing machine, because that is where it was during the first three games of the homestand, and I left it there last night as well I know, being a Panther fan since 93 has really F#$@!D with my head.

LOL I was at the Buffalo game and during the shootout I had my drink on the floor next to my seat. I picked it up when Buffalo was going for the win in the 3rd round expecting them to score and me to leave. They missed so for the rest of the shootout I put my drink on the floor for the Panthers shot and held it in my hand for the Buffalo shot. Man it's pathetic being a fan sometimes

..PB.we all feel the same....that why there's no "who do you want to face in the playoffs" thread...it's just part of being a panther fan, waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop. 15 yrs of leaving that arena with van murph and caftan and my son in a walk of shame will end soon.
So our real magic number is 6 wins, my perceived is 4. Let's just count them down each game ..
I think 5-5-0 will get the division title at 95 pts almost guaranteed. Wash have 9 gms, I don't see them getting more than 15 out of 18 possible. In fact 4-6-0 might do it.
Having said that, no point thinking that way. They're on a roll, awesome time to peak and go into playoffs with home ice and major momentum. Shoot for 100pts.

ie caps OTL tonight so magic number diminished from 14 to 13.
Wait a minute. Caps have 8 gms = max 16 pts. We are 4 pts ahead. Do caps own tiebreaker? If so, 13 is absolute worst case. But Caps are not going to go 8-0-0, probabilistically speaking. 5-2-1 is more likely = 11 pts. So realistically we need maybe 8 pts to clinch division. We have 9 gms = max 18 pts.

Looking at it slightly differently .. If the Caps win out, that's 97 pts. Not likely, but it means we win 6 1/2 (yes, same magic number) and we're in with a divisional banner. So 6-1-1 or 5-0-3 and we got it. Likely case is 4 wins in 9 games and its a date with NJ as the SE division champs.
At absolute worst, Buffalo is at 80pts with 8 left. 96 total if they win out means we need 11pts to absolute clinch if they win everything out. That's at WORST 5-2-2 to kill the tiebreak.

If this team does not make the playoffs at this point, it would be a choke of epic proportions.

I just can't see how this team does not make the playoffs and I'll be absolutely furious if they don't win the division at this point. With the schedule that we have ahead for the rest of the way, it almost can't get any easier. if you look at the stats on sportsclubstats.com, it seems unless we win or lose almost every game remaining, we're very likely facing the Devils in the 1st round, which I am very satisfied with compared to other matchups.

I stop watching the games when the Panthers start losing. If they start winning I continue to not watch. During the 5 game winning streak, I missed every game. I started watching the Carolina game and we lost.
I change my shirt between periods (if possible) if we are down as well.
