Dear NHL,

Resting players is a great way to go into the playoffs.

Sincerely,

On the other hand they have already been resting guys. Hank, DZ, Cally , AA have all sat out recently.........Eminger is now as well even though he's a spare part........no pt to risk an injury when the playoffs are the most important thing

That's a load of ****. What'd we clinch? Playoffs? Half the teams go to the playoffs. Big deal. I want the division, I want the conference, I want the Presidents Trophy. I want it all. Keep winning.

It's a different sport, yeah, but I see it working the same way.

Have like a week off and then play playoff hockey? They'd come out rusty and flat and no flow.

Playoff Tickets?

Anybody know when they usually get mailed out or when I should receive the playoff tickets?

Some teams include playoff tickets along with the regular season tickets. The Cleveland Cavs (with Lebron, obviously) did so and the Boston Bruins did this season.

Don't be surprised if the Rangers do it next season.

Keep checking the Rangers site but I'd probably say the first week of April if I had to guess since chances are the Rangers will have home ice for the first round and the playoffs would start the following week.

Playoff Lines

with richards playing like he has in march and dubinsky playing like he has the past three games, i think it's safe to say last night's line up was the best the rangers have iced all season.

hagelin - richards - gaborik
dubinsky - stepan - callahan
anisimov - boyle - zucc
rupp - mitchell - prust

mac - g
staal - dz
erixon - bickel

so my question is do you think this is the best (non-kreider) line-up the rangers can use going into the playoffs? if feds gets back in the lineup who sits? rupp? mitchell?

feds won't get back in when kreider arrives which should lead to boyle moving to the 4th line and mitchell sitting or whale-bound.

kreider-anisimov-zuccarello
rupp-boyle-prust

also no way that bickel should be in over stralman with less fights come playoff time.

Official 2012 NYR Playoff Thread

With the playoffs only a couple of weeks away I'm making a thread dedicated to all things playoffs so we don't have 100 separate threads.

I'd like to see:

hagelin - richards - gabby
dubinsky - stepan - callahan
fedotenko - anisimov - zuccarello
mitchell/rupp - boyle - prust

Keeps the first line together.

That second line is a playoff style line. I'll love that line if they can get going.

Slide fedetenko into the 3rd LW slot to allow Boyle to play the position that fits him most, and he'd be one of the best in th eleague : 4th line C. Fedetenko is great along the boards, as is Ani. Nice balance of two way players and playmaking on that line. Ani and Zucc also have good shots.

I know Mitchell doesn't get much love on here, but I think a lot of that is people trying to emulate know-nothing Leaf fans and carrying on the Johnny Malkin nonsense (which btw all started by the Leaf's fans making excuses as to why Boyce and Bozak weren't the dominant players that the Leaf hype machine made them out to be). Mitchell's got good hands, doesn't turn the puck over, and thinks offense. He's also patient with the puck. I know that bothers some who think he overplays the puck, but I usually get to watch games twice, as I watch once live, and then once again when my roommate gets in from work. All the times I read people ***** about him holding the puck, I notice the second time around he hardly has anywhere to go with it. I guess people just want him to fire off a bad pass or a shot without a lane. I don't know.

Anyway, Mitch - Boyle - Pruster is a line that can generate turnovers, play physical, be good in our own end, and can handle the puck in the offensive zone.

I think giving Erixon the rest of the yr and playoffs will be great for his growth.........the other options are kinda blah although I think Stralman deserves better than getting benched.

Truth is Eminger and Woywitka are goners next yr as UFAs anway. they are the oldest Dmen on the team at 28,lol

I like the idea of signing Kreider ASAP but for the AHL only. Its a little too much to throw the kid in the fire but still it may happen.

I would go with the same F lines and D they are playing right now. No changes. Except maybe Feds in for Mitchell on the 4th line but whatever. Maybe Stralman over Bickel but meh again
