That was pathetic all around. Holtby did he best TVo impression on weak shots. Aucoin missed a fairly open top corner, but that was his best SO attempt all season. I would think Laich, Green and probably Wideman before Brouwer...
Gimme a break. He stopped Giroux and Briere for goodness sakes.
If we win tomorrow and sabres lose we are 3 points up with 7 to play... If you say buffalo goes 5-2 since they've been hot that means the caps just need to go 3-3-1 to make it. Let's go and get a big W tomorrow night!
Caps were under siege, and yeah, that's a bit, but with playing there, and having a lot of parts out, that was a decent road point that I'll never complain about.
The Caps can end Winnipeg's season with a regulation win tomorrow night.
Maybe add 'effectively'...

Can't complain about the effort and getting a point against a pretty good team. Hope they come out tomorrow night with intensity and effort.
Love that Hendricks move.
Obviously there's only 5 minutes in overtime, but it seemed like Giroux was out there for 7 consecutive minutes. He was carving the Caps up.
Adequate 1 pt tonight, but I'll take it. Got owned in the OT. Offense is still terrible and we are weak on the puck. MP and Aucoin just get shoved off the puck. No real offense even if we have Semin who is also weak on the puck. playoffs or not this team needs re-tooled in a big way. Slow defense and weak offense make for ONLY an adequate team when we all expected more.
How long before the league figures out Hendy's move?
he changes the move enough that its hard. even if you know its coming. even a prepared goalie has to figure that he might actually shoot the puck at the kick move rather than fake. this particular fake was amazingly hard and i dont know any goalie that would not bite unless decided ahead of time that he would give it took him if he shot the puck.
caps lost that game on johansson's PS. that was there shot.
if the caps make the playoffs, i am afraid that game is what they will look like. 1-1 snooze and fidget fests
#10 Paul Devorski and #11 Kelly Sutherland were the referees for tonight's game Washington Capitals against the Philadelphia Flyers. Assisting them at the blue line were #59 Steve Barton and #96 David Brisebois.
**** loser points, we should've had this, we couldn't cash in on incredible chances early in the game, and in the end it bit us in the ass.
We should've had this game.
Gimme a break. He stopped Giroux and Briere for goodness sakes.
That is how Holtby works in SOs. Makes the dazzling side to side saves, but gives up very weak straight on shots.

WJ Style! I don't know how well a look will work with no one else on the ice... :-D
The kick really seems to freak goalies out. I thought the novelty of Hendricks was done last year, but he has completely undressed two really good goalies the last two times. Eakin has a similar move that he used to a 9/10ish SO attempts this year. He slows down and throws a fake shot in with the kick and normally results in a layup goal. I think he has fired a time or two instead of faking and it's worked at leas 1 of 2 times.

Brouwer didn't do a poor job on Bryz, if he had gotten the puck off with a few feet between him and the goaltender he might have been able to sneak it over the pad.
Holtby is afraid to make the first move in the shootout, so if you simply wrist it at him you've got a solid chance.
Lacking Semin and Orlov really slims down the shootout options.
