Tim Panaccio doesn't like you!

Thoughts? Ms. Baicker? Bueller? Bryz? Zherdev? Eye doc on Bustleton? Children of HFBoards?

Quote:
There's no pleasing Flyer fans in this city. You're either naively positive or overly negative or stupid.

I gave up a long time ago trying to please people. Briere's story has a positive outlook. If fans can't see that, well, my eye doctor on Bustleton Ave. has appointments on Friday.

I am not a huge fan of his to be honest but some people take it way to far with the personal insults.

I kind of agree...

Calling fans "stupid" who see differently than him is a bit much on his part too....

Anger HFBoards? Rookie mistake.

Deja vu.

Also yeah, can we not turn this into a bash fest. Okay, we can get ugly and insult writers. So what? There's no point.

Be careful Chris or someone will start a "Chris Shafer doesn't like you!" thread...

On topic with his article:

Briere does a LOT for this team behind the scenes. I'm willing to give him a pass to date because of that and because of his playoff performances.

However, this is going to turn ugly quickly if his production keeps slipping.

I've advocated very strongly that he should be moved to the outside in favor of Couturier, but this likely won't happen this season.

It's foolish to keep giving Briere extensive on-ice responsibility when he's not the player he used to be. He can stay in Philadelphia to ride out his contract if he can play on the outside. He still does a lot for this team, and he gets a ton of respect from me for that.

Frankly, I haven't heard the cries to get rid of Briere this season that I expected from HF by now. We've been really tame on him honestly.

Because that thread wouldn't turn into a troll fest and be quickly locked right?

Yeah saying you gave up trying to please the people you are writing for is very stupid.

This article is from March 5th. Panaccio and the writers usualy write negative articles about players who don't give them quotes on command.

It's really amazing that a sports writer who's given up on pleasing the people who are fans of the team he's writing about still has a job.

Maybe he should be as forgiving to players who don't want to give him quotes as he feels we should be to him.

Or maybe, just maybe, he should learn the game and perhaps we'd accept him a bit more.

IMO people expect Danny to show up big in the PostSeason... If he does and can get the team at least one Series riding on his shoulders... or he team goes deeper and he is a strong contributor with a near PPG Average... he will buy another season without many people calling for his head -- there will always be some though due to the $6.5M Cap hit.

I believe we will see more of him on the wing... but we will also see him front and center late in games the Flyers are behind or tied... and as was the case tonight vs the Caps he will play a lot on the OT and be a ShootOut mainstay... Lavy seems to have confidence in him, and Frankly I believe he does kick it up a notch or two in key spots.

I have 2 issues with Panaccio and it has nothing to do with opinions...

1) He writes gossip pieces. He speculates more than he reports. I don't think it's a coincidence that so many members of the Flyers have had issues with the media and are careful with what they say. Hell, Lavi commented on it during post-game last night.
2) He is factually wrong, A LOT! Like, a real lot. I understand in today's world, with Twitter, it is very difficult because you have to get information out quickly; but there needs to be a balance between speed, quality, and fact checking. Baicker, for example, I find to be very good at maintaining that balance.

I mean, one time Panaccio repeatedly referred to Couturier as "speedy" in 3 different articles. Speedy? Couturier? It just makes me mad how he can possibly come to this conclusion and maintain the front that he knows the game. 10 minutes of googling, I found a good 8-10 scouting reports that basically said Couturier is the ish, but he has 1 flaw...skating/speed. How is it that Panaccio turns a player's single flaw into a strength?

Chris,
If he slips anymore it will be next season for God's sake! I wish my boss gave me a pass like that.

If he's been trying to please people, his reputation suggests he has done otherwise... so maybe he should report the unvarnished truth (and accept negative responses) or divert his journalistic profession into other avenues....
