Guys, it wasn't mentioned during the telecast, but I'm pretty sure Quick tied Rogie's club record for shutouts in a season. Lemme look it up.....

EDIT: Yes he did!

Lewie helping the team

Quote:
#LAKings Carter shared a little info after locker room cleared out... Lewis spotted Elliott leaving the 5-hole open in the shootout (more)
Quote:
Lewis told Carter, who shared it with Richards...it worked...then when 77 went out, he went to fake, Elliott bit and he went tweeners too.

LOL at Sutter's post game presser....

Reporter: "Back when you took the job as head coach what would you have said if we told you you'd be in first place with 8 games remaining?"

Sutter, totally deadpan: "That it was all part of the master plan."

This guy seriously cracks me up.
"Do you think that the Kings and Blues are similar teams?"
"No. They're in first place."

That was an exciting game! Even though the Kings and Blues are pretty well matched the Kings still won the season series taking 6 points to 5 for the Blues. St. Louis was shut out twice and only managed to only score 3 times in 4 games against the Kings.

Kopitar with 7 shots. Even with no goal scored, that is a big improvement. Remember some games and the 0 shots made by Kopi?

Yeah, if he were to shoot the puck consistently the way he was shooting tonight he'd be a 40 goal scorer easy.

What a rollercoaster this season has been. I'm as glass-half-full a guy as you'll find, but there were a couple times this year where I thought our goose was cooked for sure. I think it shows great character that the team has been able to rise to the top of the division, however temporary or lasting it ends up being.

I also think the additions of King, Nolan, Carter, and Voynov have really allowed this team to gel correctly.

GO KINGS !!

I'm saddened that so many of my fellow hockey fans automatically think that a 0-0 end of regulation game had to have been boring. I've watched every Kings game this year and a TON of other games on CI and that game tonight was not only the most exciting, but as close to a playoff game as it could be without actually BEING a playoff game.

Ugh, I took a look at the standings and the Kings are still only 1 point down from being right on the playoff line once again. As incredible as this 6 game winning streak has been, one loss and the Kings could be on the outside looking in again.

Especially on the power play. I'm not sure if it's his own initiative or if they're actually trying to run the powerplay through Kopitar's shot, but I love it either way. He's also developed a habit in the past few games of entering the zone with speed and then cutting back to open just enough of a gap for him to ge the shot off. If he keeps this more aggressive posture and attitude, he'll be the truly elite player we've been hoping for.

Yeah but other than Calgary (who is fading fast) we don't play anyone else we are in the pack with until SJ at the end of the year.

Considering the Kings play Calgary, Edmonton twice, Minnesota, Vancouver at home possibly without D. Sedin and Boston at home, there is no reason the Kings shouldn't at the very least be locked into a playoff spot if not the division by the time those SJ games roll around.

With what our schedule looks like, if we miss the playoffs it would be an epic choke.

Ya I don't get it. We've won 6 straight and Calgary has lost 3 straight (2 in SO) and we're only 3 points up on them. Seems like they should be way back of us by now.

And you would have put money on the Kings after those back to back losses vs. Columbus and Detroit?

If the Kings had gone even 4-2 or 5-1 it wouldn't be very pretty. A six game winning streak including a ROW over the Sharks was gigantic.

There is no reason this team shouldn't go 3-0 vs. Edmonton x2 and Minnesota. That leaves them at 92. 94 gets them in.

Yes. Why not? It wasn't over. It's not finished now either. There's no reason to stop cheering.
