1967 Tape of Kings at Black Hawks

I was curious to see if there were any old TV tapes on YouTube of the Kings in their inaugural season (1967-1968) and found this gem.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgQ88DDOGtQ

I am not sure if this has been posted before but I figure it can't hurt to do it.

I was fascinated as some old names came flooding back into my memory: Cowboy Flett and Eddie Joyal. And yes, that is Terry Sawchuck in goal, although it wasn't mentioned in the tape.

Jiggs McDonald was the Kings first TV/radio announcer, preceding Bob Miller by six years.

Unfortunately, its the only one from that far back. But wildly entertaining.

I checked to see what game this was...this was the 5th game ever that the Kings played. Amazingly, it made them 3-0-2 after their first five games. Found this on Wiki:

Wonderful find. Back in a time where a shot from the faceoff circle is one where the "goalie had no chance."

He taught Ted Irvine how to be a two way player.

Love it, thanks for posting.

When this game was played, I was a 15-day-old infant in a crib in South Pasadena!

Still makes you old.

As I recounted earlier in the season, I was 9 at the time and saw my first game on TV later in the year, I am pretty sure...maybe November or December...and I was hooked. Although the tape of this game seems pretty cool too.

How about that jump after scoring the goal from Brian Smith? Just like they do it now...other than that, the "goal celebrations" seemed pretty mild to me.
