The biggest winner out of this all Tebow/Manning mess is John Elway.
Scenario 1 - Peyton Manning has no after effects of surgery. Broncos take a late flier (2nd or 3rd rounder) on a young QB who he likes. Young QB develops while Peyton takes us to the playoffs year in and year out. 4 years down the road, we have a QB to step in.
Scenario 2 - Peyton Manning gets hurt in the first few games and has to retire. Broncos take a late flier (2nd or 3rd rounder) on a young QB that Elway likes. Young QB steps in after Peyton’s injury and Elway has his QB in place for the near and possibly far future.
The move for Peyton was just as much for getting rid of Tim Tebow as it was getting a future HOF’er. Now no matter what scenario happens Elway is going to be able to dictate who is his QB now and in the future.

Genius move by Elway the more I think about this.
Given Elway never really bought in to Tebow as the answer at QB, it really was a great way for Elway to unhitch the Broncos from Tebow with the minimum of fuss and highest level of acceptance.
Manning, as shown in Indy, can really cover up significant holes and personnel weaknesses. My biggest concern is that the holes the Broncos currently have won't be adequately addressed because of payroll (unless we just kill the draft) and post-Peyton we are going to really have to scramble. However that's the risk you need to be willing to take for success in the short term and it will be a blast while it lasts.
Reports are that Jax offered $3M and a 4th rounder for Tebow - so pretty much more money and a better draft pick package than the Jets
Sounds like Tebow picked NY over Jax so they sent him there.
ESPN is going nuts over this - it's too funny. Tebow is flying into NY via a HELICOPTER and everyone's already wondering when he's going to be on SNL. Rex Ryan and Tim Tebow - it's going to be CLASSIC!

This may not be a popular opinion, but I think Tebow likes celebrity every bit as much (if not more) than football. I think that might end up being his downfall, and nobody is ever as good as they seem especially when all they do is promote how good they are.
*This is coming from a Tebow supporter too. I think he has the chance to be a decent to good NFL starter in the next 2-3 years.

Of course he does. He uses the limelight to promote his religious beliefs. It's exactly the same course of action that a politician takes when he is asked any questions by CNN, Fox, etc......Use the airtime to get out your message, even if it has nothing to do with the actual situation at hand.
That's why so many people love Tebow and a lot of people hate him. They either buy his message or they don't.

I am the middle of the mix. I am a big Tebow fan as his playing style was entertaining and I like what he did for the community. The religious thing? Not very religious myself but is routine did not bother me. I respected the passion of his beliefs and it did not bother me one bit.

I hate him because he played at florida. I'd root for FSU any day over Florida.
So what do you guys think about the Broncos signing Caldwell and Porter?
It'd be nice to sign a defensive tackle. Right now the Broncos are painting themselves into a corner having to take a DT in the first round no matter what, and that's simply not acceptable.
But yeah, I imagine Peyton is pleased that there will be ZERO chance this season of Porter intercepting his passes this year.
For those unhappy about trading Tebow... This article did a wonderful job explaining why in such a concise amount of words:
Quote:
Concerns about Manning's neck injury and multiple surgeries remain, but they weren't enough to scuttle the deal -- or cause the Broncos to keep Tim Tebow as Manning's backup. Not only is Tebow an awkward fit for an offense that will be designed to Manning's skill set, but his most ardent and vocal supporters could have made it impossible for the Broncos to make a clean break.
Fact of the matter is they are completely opposite players. You build your offense around your QB. Tebow was always the run first pass second kind of guy and needed a team that supported it. Once we got Manning, the pass first QB, we had to design an offense around him. Keeping Tebow would have been a disaster if Manning went down because the offense wouldn't be to his specifics.
