I am hoping for more from Kubina in the playoffs. Grossman has exceeded my expectations. With Carle, Coburn and Mesz consistently inconsistent in their play, a consistent defense only d man is refreshing.
Playoffs will dictate his future but I would say he walks, I was hoping to see more shots from the point, granted he has been hurt and had that layoffs prior to joining us and the fact that Grossmann has been that good prolly has us comparing the two.
Let him walk. If he's over 35, which I think he is, we'll have another Lilja on our hands. We need to bring down the average age of our dmen starting with signing Grosmann if he wants to stay, and ditching Carle.
A lot of thinks can happen in the playoffs and in the offseason.
Players get injured, rookies step up and play like studs. Carle may look for a big paycheck elsewhere, Kimmo may be headed to retirement if his back doesn't hold up, Prongs may or may not attempt to come back, Suter may or may not hit the market...
They need to sort out what can be done with Carle and Grossmann first. In the worst case, none of them wants to resign for reasonable money and all of a sudden Kubina becomes a indespensable veteran presence.
I was against getting him, and still am not a huge fan of what we gave up for him (with a lot of solid talent in the draft falling to the 2nd round), but I've liked what he's been able to do so far and I'd bring him back for a reasonable price
