those plastic end caps (not butt ends)

So I made a table of sticks, and I need to find about 30 of those end caps that sticks come with when you buy em new (the ones that seem to fall out all the time). Ive called my LHS and they have no idea where to get them, so Im asking you guys if anyone knows if theyre available for purchase at all, or where I might find some sans LHS, or neighborhood rinks (already tried these).

no, more like what comes stock on a stick. I dont have a pic, but theres about a quarter inch of plastic that comes out and about an inch that goes in. (sorry for the crappy explanation)

It sounds like you are talking about plugs. No idea where you can get one though, sorry . I throw mine out as fast as I get it.

Call em again and ask if they have any plastic plugs lying around. Or just hang around the store for a bit and approach anyone who buys a new stick .

If you are looking for the stock end cap, you might want to reach out to one of the manufacturers to see if they can get you the parts. Sorry I could not be more helpful.

They aren't produced by the major manufacturers, you're best bet is to scour LHS'

I'd just get a few butt ends, cut the tenon off, chop it into 1/2" lengths, then put them in the ends.

I was curious about these, they seem to fall out. Is it ok to play without them? Should you tape them in a bit?

That's what i ended up doing because the one that i have kept falling out. I thought about playing without it, but wasn't sure if there was any reason not to.

You are supposed to cover any hollow stick end because it can get impaled on people and cause injuries. USA Hockey requires it. And you can Google if you want the gruesome images, but please don't link.

I usually use a wood butt end to balance out the weight which covers the end, but plastic end plugs work fine. Another thing I'll do is just chop the tenon off an end plug, heat the stick, and put it in with a little glue or tape, flush to the end. Again, for balance. Most plastic pieces I've used fell out easily.

I just overlap the end a little bit on my first pass for the knob, then smooth it down over the end. Does a decent job of holding the cap in.

Just buy a wood one and cut it even.

i always want to ask this, but i always thought that its not worth top open a new thread. now there is one where i can ask it:

i made the experience that sticks with a wooden endplug have a lot more better feeling than sticks with no endplug or plasticendplug. a stick without a wood endplug isnt complete for me.

--> less vibrations--> better feeling, better slapshot

did someone of u make the same experience?

It's not only you, however, it IS personal preference. Some can't stand the feeling of a wood plug and would rather go composite. Others don't mind wood, while others yet will never consider an extension.
