I think our dudes are just bad enough to lose 3-4. Larose with the game tie third goal, gleason's error allows GWG with 1:47 left

Not surprisingly, looking over the CBJ stats for the season makes me feel like we are a Cup contender.

Now, which one is the "first" and which one is the "second" line - I have no idea. Also, as listed above, the 3rd and 4th lines should be flip-flopped. Dorsett is a third liner, Boll a 4th (for the roles that they play).

And whoever said that the game would be 1-0 - that's funny. (Unless you guys REALLY suck at scoring - I'll be honest, I haven't been paying much attention to the Canes this season). Mason is in net - you can shoot it through him (see goal #2 from the game versus Chicago on Tuesday of this week).
I predict the worst, and then eagerly await LaRose or Staal proving me wrong. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Towards the end of regulation, the Bliue Jackets, in their amazing effort to tank, pull the goalie despite it being a 0-0 tie.

LaRose with the empty netter, with an assist from Cam Ward.

The CBJ have surpassed their season high of man-games lost with 345. They are on a 0 for 35 on the PP streak. They are missing 3 of their top 4 defensemen. The offense has completely dried up lately.

You guys think the CBJ are going to score in the last minute of the game. No, that's your job (I can't begin to count the number of times that the opposition has scored in the last minute of the period or the game, it is a regular occurrence, as is getting a penalty with less than 3 minutes to go in the third period, thus negating any possible chance of winning).

I'm just a bit cynical today.

Good luck the rest of the way.

That drought will be broken tonight. You'll probably go 50% on the PP tonight.

Got any guys that are in a long scoring drought or still need their first of the season. If so, they'll score tonight.

Canes are very generous to other teams/players in droughts.

Let's not forget JMFJ.

He's probably going to get the ovechtrick tonight (or at least get a couple of secondary assists).

The above information is vital, and had I taken the time to notice it earlier I might not have bothered to set the DVR before I left the house. My prediction of a 1-0 loss as regulation expires is no longer valid. We're gonna give up at least 5 goals tonight, most of them on the PP.

And wanna talk cynical? I just renewed the wife and I's 2012-2013 season tickets about 5 minutes before reading the above. Cynical doesn't cover how I feel right now.

Funny how we're arguing the Blue Jackets fan over who is going to fail first tonight.

I say, no time for failure... there is time, however, for a five-game winning streak.

I just looked up a few stats comparing the two teams:

The following list will be Carolina / Columbus

G/G: 2.66 / 2.23
GA/G: 2.86 / 3.16
PP%: 16.5 / 14.9
PK%: 79.7 / 75.9
Shots per game: 30.6 / 29.6
Shots against per game: 32.2 / 30.5
FO%: 50.8 / 50.8

So, knowing what we are currently icing, my prediction is a 4-3 hockey game. No idea who wins it.

Updated my avatar again just to **** with you all. It's true, though. Parise does have a nice smile, therefore JR is bound to sign him. (And Chuck, just think of it like PaulProteus and I said...)

Oh, right, the game. 3-0 Canes in my hopes(because I need Ward to play extremely well tonight for my fantasy team). In reality, it'll be 4-2 Canes.

Staal x2
Sutter
Jokinen ()

JMFJ (PP)
Umberger

Staal goes beast mode all game, scores 2 goals and hits approximately 1.79 posts tonight. Skinner goes to the box at least once for some stupid penalty. Pitkanen with two assists. Wardo shuts the door, as somehow the Jackets put on 35+ shots on goal. At least one fight occurs.

Now none of this will happen.

I'm totally on the Staal beast mode bandwagon, but I'll take the "over" on that Skinner-in-the-box prediction.

So Staal hitting 1.79 posts tonight sounds accurate to you? I thought it sounded pretty reasonable.

I expect him to leap through the glass and into about the 15th row when the crowd chants, "Jared's Better," a new take on an old refrain, yes. So 1.79 posts would be a good number.

The guy's been a monster lately.

Addendum: Over, under, whatever. Skinner will probably drop the gloves with Boll tonight out of sheer jealousy and spite for Staal, for his teammates, and for his fans.

I would personally go for "Gunnar's better" just to see what Eric would do.

If everything goes optimally this weekend, the Canes would be alone in 10th, 2 points behind Washington (Caps would have a game in hand) and 1 point behind Buffalo, yet sportclubstats.com would only have them as a 6.7% chance to make the playoffs. Granted, it's unlikely, but that's still why you should take those numbers with a grain of salt.
