Abdelkader is right on the cusp there for the wings.
He had 9 fights 2 years ago if you count playoffs and while only having three in the reg season last year he also had a playoff and preseason scrap.
Hes already got one this year too.
I probably wouldnt put him on the list yet but I think after this season he will deserve to be up there.

Byfuglien and Kane for the jets. Ladd isn't afraid to drop the gloves either.

Would also add Smid for the Oilers.

Haha yeah pretty much, but at least he has the balls to show up despite his size. Gotta give him that at least.

New list after the trade deadline. The Rangers are without a doubt the toughest team in the NHL. Just wow !

Shouldn't Bourque be considered a fighter for the habs ?
Nokelainen ?
Not sure what considers a fighter.

At least 5 fights per year or those who can handle legit fighters (like Doug Murray, Milan Lucic). That's how I decided to make the list
Nokelainen has 4 career fights and 5 for Bourque...

I would add Brendan Smith to the wings list now that he is called up for the rest of the season apparently.
Also if you consider guys who can handle tough fighters, would Bertuzzi not be in that area?

? Heh otherwise perfect

I find this topic interesting, but I think there needs to be some semantics figured out so a team like Vancouver, for example, doesn't mislead people into thinking that they have a number of fighters on the team ... or are in any sense tough. Perhaps listingonly those who are currently on the 23 man roster?
Sorry if I'm repeating any names but what about Glencross (Calgary), Richards (LA), Mitchell (LA), and Jackman (St. Louis). All of these guys excel in areas outside of fighting, but could take a number of other guys on the list. Is there a cut off, or X number of fights per year required?

The aim is around 5 fights or more per season or guys who can take on the big tough guys but dont fight a lot like Chara.
Brendan Smith just had his 5th of the year and laid a pretty good beating on Shaw, hes gonna be on this list for years to come

Ladd should get an honorable mention. Fought Skille even when his face was all smashed up from a puck in an earlier game. That takes some balls.

Find me a lot of players on the list with an average of 0,042 fights per game like Boychuk ?

Eh, he's fought 3 times in each of the last two years. I don't know what the cutoff is but he is willing.

the cutoff for this list is 5 per season or if a guy is a monster but doesn't fight often like Chara. but i agree Boychuk is a solid fighter and i love when he fights because usually he is answering for one of his own big hits or backing up a teammate. he's an under rated fighter.
