If NC State gets blown out tonight, I'm going to cry.

I felt a loss in the back of my head tonight, Mason and CBJ have had our number in the recent years. Are we all going to stop drinking the playoffs kool-aid now?

7 meaningless games left in the season

I bet the Canes win at least 5 of them

We kinda have to. Our chances just dropped to effectively nil.

Wasn't expecting that kind of effort... that's what pisses me off.

We always have trouble with CBJ, but I had hoped this year would be different, and with us being on this roll to make the playoffs....i"m totally disappointed with tonight. My hopes of making the playoffs definitely ended tonight. My kool-aid glass is empty.

Looks like Washington and Buffalo are playing the way you need to play when you want to go to the playoffs.

I'd almost rather this team lose the rest of the way then see them tease us one more time.. I don't promote losing but I really don't want to get my hopes even ignited a little bit..

Funny how NO ONE picked that result and it happens....

Moral of the story? Predict more 5-1 losses.

Hope is pretty much gone now. Even if we go undefeated, everyone in front of us would have to collapse in epic fashion.

Basically, no matter what we do we will be eliminated when either Washington or Buffalo wins their third game, which one of them WILL do since they still have a game to play against each other. And if we miss even a single point we accelerate the process.

It's over.

On the plus side Toronto and Winnepeg won. The game against TO next week just became a must lose.

I honestly thought they were OK tonight. Weird, huh?

Cam sucked. He should have stopped at least three, including the first two. If we're tied going into the third (or even down one), I like our chances. But Cam kinda killed us. Meanwhile, Mason was legitimately excellent. There were five or six times when I thought "goal" in my head and he came up with a stop. It's not like the Canes were wearing out his crest. Their goalie was better than ours. Much better.

Having said all that, Staal wasn't very good and Ward was horrible. We can lose to anyone when that happens. They've been so good lately that I have a hard time getting upset.

Then again, I've known they wouldn't make the playoffs since November, so I'm not as upset as you guys. There was no chance we were winning out, so all the talk of "if we win out, then ... " was really flawed at its core. I'm happy they're playing well, don't get me wrong, but it was never more than a pipedream that they could make the playoffs.

Just finished watching my DVR'd game. I freakin' knew we were on tap for a hot mess tonight. I knew in the back of my head I should have bought the case of Natty Ice.

FML, I remembered while I was fighting my wife for the remote (so I could rage quit) that I renewed next year's season tickets today. That Marquis de Sade's got nothin' on me.

5-1 loss to Columbus. Unreal.

Imma set the sound of the loon call from the fishing Ontario commercial as my ringtone until next season, just for giggles.

I'll be okay, as long as Buffalo doesn't go far in the playoffs. That's all I ask for now.

Why do all the teams fighting for eighth place have to be so gross?

Just please don't let Winnipeg make it. Their fans would be absolutely UNBEARABLE if that happened. Don't **** this up, Caps and Sabres.

I have to say, Winnipeg fans have completely killed any excitement I might have felt about having the Jets back.
