I'm not making excuses but the guy has been good for years. He may well be back to where he was in prior years after this year. Too bad he's ****ing up this year.

I was hopeful but it's starting to fade.. I guess I got spoiled earlier in the season when we were winning a few games in a row. Win 1 Lose 1 doesn't seem like a serious playoff contender to me.

That 3rd goal was GARBAGE. 4th goal wasn't good either. Much like against the Devils he had time to get set and let one in short side. Not every odd man rush will result in a great chance and this game should have ended 2-1 (actually Gabby should have scored and it should have gone to OT). Technically should have been 1-0, w/o Mitcehll's BS and with Lundqvist playing like he did most of the season.

Yup, we can beat anybody with the way they are playing now
All I'm saying is, if we're gonna be scared of Washington and Buffalo we might as well go home right now and save everyone some time.

Look at Boston they've been mediocre longer than that, Philly had a longer streak of .500 games too. I'm pretty sure Pittsburgh did too at one point.

Also, March has been a brutal stretch. They've played a lot of games and had less time off. The guys are probably a bit exhausted. The rest of the season is either a back to back or a one day break between games (except for a 2 day break). The past month has been the same thing. Give Cally and MDZ a couple games to get healthier, Give a couple guys less ice time to get back to form and Finish strong in the last 5 games going into the playoffs. Then hopefully our guys are healthier and more rested going into the playoffs.

I'd rather see us play Philly than Florida. Fast teams like Panthers, Sabres and Habs scare the hell out of me. We tend to struggle against fast teams. In previous years we'd struggle against physical teams like Flyers but not anymore. We can beat them and beat them up in the same time.

Its easy to jump down Mitchells throat..a guy who has outperformed all expectations...hell there were no expectations. He makes a fluky play and then a bad turnover. Stepan tries a toe-drag at the blueline when one D had already jumped in the rush and loses the puck and leads to a goal, haven't seen one post bashing him.

Mitchell had a bad game. So did Henke. So did half the team.

I've been seeing posts like this since Pittsburgh was 8 points behind us.

They're 1 point behind us now.

I just can't fathom how you keep the same mindset when it's BLATANTLY obvious we're playing much worse.

Except Mitchell routinely holds onto the puck too long and turns the puck over every game. It was bound to cost us a game and it did.

Stepan actually contributes a ton more during the season than Johnny Malkin could ever dream of. Yes, Steps has been bad the last few games but that last turnover really didn't matter as it came when we were down already and pressing.

True. Becoming despondent when the lead was still 8-10 points would have cause for posts like that, but since watching them slowly let that lead dwindle to 1 point with a Pittsburgh game in hand on them is no longer "reactionary."

Even if they do hold the number one seed somehow magically, it should have never come down to this.
