I guess this means that Horcs will be out for a bit, or at least it's an insurance policy just in case.

I suppose it makes sense insofar that they don't want to take away OKC's veteran or scoring centers just to play 4C for the Oilers for a handful of games, tops, but it seems like THIS would be a great opportunity to reassess Lander and see if he's at least making the improvements at the AHL level which will help him be more than an extremely poor 4C option going into next year. VV doesn't really offer anything. He's never going to make the Oilers, so if this is an audition to see if he's worth keeping in the system, it's a stupid one. His player type is eminently replaceable with an AHL contract to a previously undrafted but good two-way college center.

Lander hasn't played really since going down last night was his first game in a couple of weeks. Hip injury.

So we want to reassess Lander after returning from injury for 1 game in OKC? He's played 4 games down there and missed a number of games due to injury and yesterday was his first game in almost 3 weeks.

Lander JUST got back from an injury, he's played one game so far.

I don't mind giving VV a shot, it might be his last opportunity to show his stuff with the big club.

So this is call up #3 out of 4 that are allowed for the rest of the season. Or does it not count as it is an injury replacement. Maybe we could recall Reider as an emergency call up

Rieder just had a 3 point night against Owen Sound for the opener in the playoffs.

VandeVelde has been very good for OKC as of late.

Didn't know this about Lander. But, another point to consider: CVV is a veteran stalwart, especially defensively for OKC gearing up for a run and without O'Marra. Are there not younger, less important centers to the team's success who also have a better shot at making the NHL? Pitlick comes to mind, or is he not a center?

I just don't think that this benefits either team in the long or short term. Don't care that much either way though so whatever.

Pitlick will have a bigger impact in OKC than CVV

I would have rather seen Tanner House. I think he has a little more potential than CVV.

At this point in the season, give CCV the chance. We aren't making an evaluation of anyone that hasn't already been brought up.

Hopefully he outplays Belanger and convinces fans to chant "Horcoff suck"

In the future maybe, but according to reports from Eric Rodgers and Neal Livingston, Pitlick doesn't have an assigned role, whereas CVV does. It's a lot easier to lose a player with no assigned role than their key defensive center, I'd think.

CCV will be back soon - not an issue to OKC.

Off topic, but Charles (Charlie) Croyle is destroying the Q right now. 11pts in his first 2 playoff games. For those who don't know, Minnesota aqcuired him last summer from SJ.

Reider is having a great playoffs so far. Good to see.

Marincin and Davidson are struggling. Particularly Marincin, who was -4 last night.

CVV could still turn himself into a 4th line center if he can just turn himself into a pk specialist.

Good for CVV. He's been really good and deserves a shot. My expectations are really low so he won't have to do too much to impress me in the big show...

Lander is not an option right now obviously and I think it's best for him to stay down and get into shape for the playoffs. No need to call him up now or later this season just to send him back again. He'll get a look after the summer and then we'll see if he can break in and take a bottom 6 centre role on the team. So far in his career he's consistently taken another step in his development every single season so I am hoping he can keep it up.
