I love physical hockey-in fact I like chippy, somewhat dirty hockey, but DiDiomete took it a level too far too often.
As has Chaz Johnson. He's put a couple of Cyclones out with concussions-the last of which warranted his season coming to an end (it didn't-I don't even think he got any games for it). He left the ice after about 5 or 6 strides at full speed.
Martinson's third rate goons aren't going to make the playoffs and the Express probably won't even be around after next season. They're drawing about 1000 per game. Good riddance to him and them.

Chaz The Spaz never did anything worthwhile like that while here.
Hey, no need to joke about long term future, who knows how long the Cyclones will hold up, lol. There was a point in time when they were winning and nobody came.

Actually, the Cyclones are probably in the top 5 in financial health among all ECHL franchises. The attendance numbers are actual paid and actually attending and the tickets aren't discounted beyond group and season ticket discounts. Winning isn't even important in the equation.
Chicago's franchise is a ridiculous concept. They are 4 exits down I-90 from the AHL Wolves and the Chicago media market is so expensive that they'll never be able to promote it.

I need to see this list. Top is Alaska, my bottom 3 are Wheeling, Chi-Town and Trenton(no order)

Alaska averages 300 more per game in Cincinnati (if Alaska reports accurate figures-Cincinnati does). They also are responsible for other teams' travel costs from Seattle to Alaska. They draw pretty well but have a very difficult and volatile cost structure.
The two most long term stable teams are Toledo and Colorado.
Others in good shape: Cincinnati, Gwinnett, Bakersfield, Ontario
Average shape: Stockton, Florida, Idaho, Alaska
Below Average: Reading, Utah, Kalamazoo, South Carolina, Greenville, Las Vegas
Death Watch: Elmira, Chicago, Wheeling and Trenton

It's not strictly about attendance though. Sure it plays apart but there are other factors involved.
Alaskas owners are really rich from what I had heard, thats why I mention it.
Our owner is by no means poor, just a con artist. The support is there to continue. Whats going to happen I can't tell you because at this point(until tomorrow)it's up in the air.
Watch from :10 to :13 seconds in the corner. That's gotta be it.
Looks like he gets on top of the guy, grabs his helmet with both
hands and tries to smash the guys face into the ice.

Found that video too. Did you find anymore? That one was of low quality. But to be fair I guess the angle of where it happened also sucked.
Wonder how long hes suspended for? My guess is the rest of the year
However, should any other team wish to pick him up, I'm sure there would be a negotiation with league to "define" length.
(But, if I'm an ECHL GM, he's a guy I wouldn't want on my team.)
He was released by Wheeling early in the season too. Not sure what it is with him. In the OHL he was definitely a rough player, but it seems like since last season (his 300+ PIM's with Connecticut) he's been more of a "loose cannon" type. He's got some skill, he could definitely be a solid 50 point guy at the AA level while still playing a physical style. It'll be interesting to see where he goes from here. I've always been a fan of his, but it seems like his career is in a bit of a make or break type scenario now...

I agree. He's not without AA level scoring talent. But, he's been an AHL player and he's made it at that level (for nearly 3 seasons) based on PIM not points. My conjecture is that he feels that an "over the top" style will gain him notice in the AHL.
Nonetheless, he's passed any reasonable definition of "physical play". He's just plain dirty-a headhunter. He sucker punched a Cincinnati Cyclones player just a few weeks earlier and didn't even get a reprimand. Banging a guy's head on the ice is beyond the pale. He's lucky that the ECHL standards of video taping a game is so low. This last action would have probably gotten him the rest of the season off if a better view of the incident been caught on tape.

They are so low that Jimi Simmons was filming games for the Jackals a couple seasons ago!
Good question. The only thing I can think of is they found some creative loophole in regards to salary cap rules for a suspended player? Very strange though.
EDIT: But that doesn't explain why Ontario signed him and then released him the next day...
