If we were going to pick a time to get hot... we sure in heck picked the right time.
I believe we are 2nd best in NHL since All Star break

-Hodgson is dialed in. He has been fantastic.
-Leino continues to impress me.
-Shoutout to Brad Boyes. Guy takes a lot of flack for not scoring, and rightfully so, but he's gone about his work on the 4th line as a true professional and has adjusted his game to fit on those lines.
-Foligno has scored some huge goals as a Sabre.
-Miller continues his great stretch.

I'd like Leino to bury a one-timer from Foligno sometime in the future.

"That was Marcus...FoLeino."

I'm completely blown away by Foligno.

I was mildly optimistic about him, but I really don't get to see any AHL games (1-3 per season), I had no idea he could be this good.

Yeah, he'll likely cool off with the points, but the way he plays the game will (hopefully) stay.

So, how long does it take for the "Thomas Vanek wants to be traded to Minnesota!" rumors to start?

Because we've done that with Miller for 5 years now....

Miller is also 1 win away from his 7th straight 30-win season, something that seemed unachievable a month ago.

I always wondered that myself, why Vanek to Minny was never that big off a deal like Miller to the Red Wings.

Since Vanek has a lot of ties to Minnesota.

Awful. Just awful. It sounds like she is running out of battery, just going slower and slower. Reminds me of that movie Mystery Alaska (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0134618/) where the NY Rangers are invited to play a game of pond hockey. In order to use their home advantage, the local boys instruct the Little Richard to sing the national anthems really slow so that the Rangers would get cold.

I believe him and Lundqvist are the only ones that have this. Pretty awesome! Should solidify is rank as a top 10 goalie again. Can you believe his stats are better this year then lasts? Incredible stretch of games for Miller these last 2 months.

I guess without that "accident" with Lucic, Miller would be in the Vezina race

When Gerbe comes back, I expect him to take Tropp's place with Tropp sliding down to Turnbull's place. Gerbe may be small but his tenacity can cover for some of the things Tropp does on that line, plus he adds more offensive abilities and some speed which that line doesn't really have.

Kaleta would either push Tropp or McCormick out of the lineup. Can't see them sitting Boyes even though he might deserve it.

I think Tropp stays with Vanek and Hodgson.

Vanek-Hodgson-Tropp
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Leino-Roy-Pominville
Gerbe-Boyes-Kaleta

I think McCormick is the first one out when someone gets back in. Love his grit a few years ago, but haven't really seen that lately and hasn't really been all that helpful. Keep Tropp around. Turnbull shows promise...wonder how he'll do in the upcoming games?

yeah this is what I was going to say as well. Turnbull for sure will be sent back down, and McCormick will sit over Boyes. The top 3 lines are rolling fine right now, no point in switching them

with 3 functional scoring lines in place... there is really no reason to keep dressing Boyes... none at all. He doesn't play special teams, he doesn't produce ES offense, he's not particularly good defensively, he's not physical...

stop wasting a roster spot on boyes...

Tell that to Lindy Ruff.

I don't see Boyes coming out of the lineup.

Agreed, play Gerbe on the 4th with Turnbull and Kaleta/McCormick.

Can't wait to get rid of this bum.

As for the lines, don't change anything Lindy! I'm just afraid that when things go wrong he's gonna go mixing it around...

Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure Boyes saw some PK time in this game.

I think Lindy likes his veteran presence. He has a Pominville-esque workmanlike approach to his game.

I agree with you for the most part. I don't think Boyes is necessarily bad or detrimental, but I'd rather see Gerbe-McCormick-Kaleta.

With Gerbe/Kaleta/Hecht hurt and Goose traded, Boyes has become a PK regular. Ruff is using Roy/Pominville/Hodgson/Stafford/Boyes to kill penalties.

Tropp, too.

I don't have supporting numbers, but I feel like the PK has been great. Roy and Hodgson have really shined of late.

Boyes is averaging 2:05 per game on the PP for the season. 6th on the team in average forward PP icetime (in order - Pominville, Vanek, Roy, Stafford, Hodgson, Boyes).

12th among team forwards in average total time on ice with a 13:17 average (9 through 14 goes Gaustad at 15:05, Gerbe, Kaleta, Boyes, Whitmore, Adam at 12:24).

I'd much rather play Boyes then Cody... No goals and only 3 assists in 44 games?!? 4th liner or not, if your making 1 mil+ you need to score some goals... Not to mention his physicality all but disappeared though I understand the concussion issues.

Cody was a beast in the playoffs last season, so if he's healthy enough to play he should seriously be considered as an option.

From my forth line I want the puck eaten in the o-zone, and zero post season penalties, every shift. That's their mission, every shift.

Face-offs, physical strength, speed, discipline, and positioning are the key attributes. I think Cody is = or better in 4 of those areas, over Boyes.
