Who is the best MN sports team?

Long story short, I'm doing a study aboard program in Guatemala in June and July and apparently housewarming gifts to your host family are appreciated. The one gift idea that stuck out to me was "A baseball hat from your hometown". I usually would do this, but to spare an international incident, I'm trying to figure out which is the best of the worst in this case.

In all seriousness. I'd say give them a hat that coincides with a significant sport in the country. You can't go wrong with the Twins.

Baseball is pretty popular in South America, right? Minnesota Twins?

If the family doesn't care about baseball, I'd say Gophers.

Wild. Why? Looks cool. On apparel, nothing else matters.

Besides, if the family has kids, nothing cooler than going to school with a shirt saying "WILD"

Go with the Twins. They're more likely to get into that.

I won't consider the gophers a mn sports team and don't have any clue why they are on this list. my vote goes to the wild. I don't have any faith in the other sports except fort the wolves, but i think the wild have a brighter future.

Because they're a HUGE program in MN. The gopher programs get more coverage than the Wild or Wolves, and have many more people invested in their success. Pretty much anyone that lives near the cities has a relative that went to the U.

That is the problem with me. I grew up gophers weren't that big of a deal. Plus when i think of sports teams i do not include college in that list. It is just how i look at that.

Yeah I understand that, but if you ask anyone from another state about Minnesota sports, I can almost guarantee the Gophers will be mentioned.

The question was best, not most popular. For that, Twins, because they won big time World Series, twice. Vikings = fail.

Plus, Central America would probably care more about baseball than football.

Wild are probably the best pro team....but Gophers are still the only one that appears to ever make the playoffs in something.

Yeah I'd go with the Twins due to this.

I don't think the cities people actually understand that the majority of the state (geographically if not population-wise) couldn't possibly care less about the Gophers. The Lynx are a bigger deal than the Gophers through most of the state.

The Twins' TC is easily the iconic cap for the region... and I'm not just saying that 'cause I'm wearing one right now.

If you're getting a cap, it should be a baseball cap.

I'm going to say that Population-wise is more important than Geographically, seeing as big expanses of land can't have allegiance to a team. 68% of people live in the cities, and most of them have some sort of Gophers connection. More often than not the students I interact with at UMD have some sort of fandom for the Gophers, granted if UMD is playing MINN, UMD comes first.

And I'm not trying to say that within Minnesota the gophers are super important, but I'm looking at it from a foreigner's perspective, and the Gophers are one of the main teams that represent Minnesota to other states.

I can attest to this fact. Lived in Minnesota almost all my life, I care **** all about the Gophers. In fact I often have a good laugh at their utter failure in sports other than hockey.

I'm a bit confused; best or most popular? Popular; Twins or Vikings. Best? T-Wolves.

Vikings aren't going to be good for a while. Twins are an unmitigated disaster and the Wild is at a crossroad. At least the Puppies have shown glimpses of the future as long as Rubio stays healthy and they look good.

What part of Guatemala are you going to? I've spent some time there.

If you get a chance, you have to go to the city of ANTIGUA. beautiful place.

True, the wolves are legitimately a couple players away from being a playoff team.
