I am also curious if he can play in the playoffs... i kind of assume he can but i don't really know
I want to assume he can just because I don't think they would blow an entire year off his contract just for seven games to help us make a post season that he can't even play in. But I have absolutely no idea.

yeah i would almost be angry if he couldn't play in the playoffs and they decided to burn an elc year for 7 games
Even for ***** and giggles, we can't leave out Ryder with the year he's had.
Damn, knew I forgot somebody. I hope the emergence of smith and chiasson (if that's what you want to call this) doesn't deter GMJN from going after Parise in fear of a log jam.
From what I've seen in this thread I decided to piece this together for ***** and giggles: Next years top six
Smith-benn-eriksson
Parise-ribs-chiasson.
Please?
Ryder isn't just going to disappear after 33+ goals.
Smith - Ribeiro - Ryder
Parise - Benn - Eriksson
or, w/o Parise:
Smith - Ribeiro - Ryder
Eriksson - Benn - Chiasson
I don't know what I'd do, though. I don't want two rookies with Benn unless they both look amazing. Of the two, I think Smith will get the top 6 spot next year (if there's only one), but Chiasson will end up being the better player. Really, you could juggle those lines until it works and then do it again once it stops.

It shouldn't. If he would rather put Chiasson/Smith in the top 6 over Parise, fire him right now.
If he CAN'T get Parise, I'd be okay with it, though.
I think smith will play on one of the bottom 6 lines. Likely the 4th line for the first few games and i think the 4th line will get good minutes especially in the 2nd period on the long change on the road, if he scores and looks a threat he will go to the 2nd line possibly.
Don't see Chiasson sticking next year tbh. I think he'll be battling Smith, and Smith is better right now. I do think Chiasson will be the better player in 3 years, though. If he does, though, Ott goes to center on the 3rd, Wandell to LW and Fiddler to C on the 4th, and Garbutt is the 13th forward.
Parise and Eriksson would probably be interchangeable, just depends on chemistry.
That would be just unreal. If only the defense could be on par...
Man i wish Parise would sign but who knows who will throw the most money at him. Watching Chiasson this season and i gotta say i think he will only get better.
What exactly are you planning to see at the draft? Both Fiddler and Robidas get traded? Doubt Fiddler does, but who knows.
I'd still love to move way up and snag Galchenyuk, but I don't see that happening. Robidas, Fiddler, a mid-1st and 2 ends won't get it done. I'd rather stick with what we have, try and get another 2nd or something, and get Girgensons in the 1st, and a center, a LW, and a defender in the 2nd. Then just go with whoever they want.

I'm not exactly planning for anyone to be traded at the draft. That's just what I hope happens so that space is cleared up for our youth.
This is probably a really stupid question, but I have no idea so am asking. Can he play in the playoffs if we were to make it? I know Turco can't play for Boston but didn't know if this was different or not.
Sure he can. Turco can't play because he was a free agent. That rule is designed to stop situations where players sit out most of the season (think Niedermayer/Selanne) and then a club signs them late to load up just for the playoffs and get around what their cap hits would be otherwise.
