Just wanted to post about Jay, who is an alma mater of my high school (the late Herb Brooks' HS as well), the St. Paul Johnson Governors. Finished the season fourth in the entire state in points (61) and first in goals scored (42) surpassing the second place scorer by 10.
Has signed to play for the Fargo Force of the USHL immediately following Johnson's season. At 6'-5", 230, with a knack for scoring, I would watch out for this kid down the road. I will talk to his dad this coming game to see if there have been any DI offers.
A lot of people are knocking his numbers because of the Tri-Metro league which the Govs play in, but they played a number of quality opponents throughout the year, and Dickman isn't surrounded by a terrible amount of quality. He also led his elite league team in goals scored during the off season against the best in the entire country, so I really think Jay has a very promising career ahead of him.
IMO Jay skates very well for his size. Hell maybe he could even be an enforcer in the NHL some day with his size, if not and out and out real deal player.
What is the comment like Tanner Lane and Jonny Brodzinski. Ive watched both play alot this year and they will both be great college players. Lane is a lot older then Brodzinski hes a 93 born and leads fargo force in shots on goal. From what ive seen hes one of the reasons fargo is in the hunt he plays against the other teams first lines and shuts them down in alot of the teams wins the things he does for the team goes unnoticed.

lol@ Brodz leading the Force at shots on goal. You do realize that 85% of those shots are slapshots from 45+ feet out when he could simply walk it in and take a much higher percentage shot? Yesterday, he did walk it in and roofed a backhander about 18 feet high into the netting behind the goal.

I'll be there to give him a report when he's done with his HS season. Just hoping he's not another Tanner Lane/Johnny Brodzinski...
So what's the word on Jay's performance up there in Fargo?
EDIT: looks like he only has five assists in nine games, although he is a +5 in that span as well. Without knowing his situation there (line he's on, playing minutes) he's going to have to produce more to get some offers from some DIs.

He did not have an assist on Friday night. Don't let the subpar scorekeeping that is in the USHL fool you. Corrin and Wade got the assists, Dickman didn't even touch the puck on that shift.
As for Dickman, he's got a great shot and has an occasional decent pass. His skating is absolutely horrid and he's a 6'5" perimeter player. The only time he will throw a hit is in the neutral zone, when the other player is looking the other way and even then...the term..."hit" is being generous as it's more of a shove at a kid not even looking at him.
