Marcus Kruger was signed in the summer of 2010, before joining Chicago in the spring of 2011.

Don't know if I'm misinterpreting here but Hedman and Larsson went straight to the NHL after signing.

Casey Wellman went straight to the NHL with the Wild, which was probably an incentive to him signing with them.

I believe he means players, who, after their season ended in Europe/College then signed an NHL contract and went straight into the NHL.
