Some solid defensemen would be nice also.

Glad to see us get the win. Confidence is more important to this team then moving up 1 slot in the draft. We will get a nice pick where ever we land at this point.

Don't give up just yet. Two games left with Pitt and one game with Boston.

Ha...oh I'm not...you just know the Isles will find a way to lose the next one.

Wouldn't mind if the Oilers keep winning too!

Montoya has not been the same since he got run over by Kane with zero retaliation

I expect a shakeup next year...meaning coaching change and 2-4 new faces.

As nice as a high pick would be, I really want to see this team finish at or above .500

Montoya isn't a horrible goalie. He has not played well, BUT in his defence, he rarely played this second half of the season. It's hard to get your A game on when you are shaking off the rust. Look at how long Streit took to get back into it. He wasn't really improving until the second half of the season. If they don't play Monty often..he won't be as good.

I really liked him last season and hoped he might be someone we could run with until he got hurt. Hope he gets a good spot next year.

(With the way things have been going, he'll be in Tampa.)

Im sure the reason he hasn't recovered is because no one got revenge for him.

Same here, I want to continue to see that upward curve of points.

TB can't really start next season w/o Bernier/Schneider/Rask. Montoya is not in their class. They already have Garon as 1A/backup.

But is he really a good one? Beyond the second half of last season, his track record is not so great.

Isles took a wait and see approach to him this year. Was he looking good until the 3 goalie situation interfered? Yes, same with his concussion. However, he has yet to regain his play when given the opportunity.

Isles resigned Nabby, not Montoya. He's their guy now. If I'm Nabby during my negotiations, I ask whether NYI will be resigning Montoya as a UFA. To me, they said no. He's willing to deal with DP b/c he knows, if DP plays, he will falter. Montoya could ride on a lightning and put Nabby back on the bench. Something he wants to avoid.

Because screaming at the ref ends in one of two ways: (1) Penalty against the Islanders or (2) Same situation as before the yelling started.

I'm thinking we could catch picks or something for negotiation rights. Say for PA rights to negotiate for a 1st rounder 2012. Then we use both to trade up and get Nail. I know you guys want size, but this guy will make JT a better player instead of people leeching off of JT's skill.

I assume they can do the same with Montoya. Maybe the Leafs will trade a 3rd rounder for negotiating rights.

This will solve our stupid 3 goalie tandem because our ownership is too nice to tell DP that he's just not good enough anymore and ship him to the minors. Also it will open up our lines to let people like Petrov in. Maybe a line of JT/Petrov/Nail? At least to try.

I think Strome and Kabby need another year, especially Kabby, why do I feel we are gonna let them play full time next year!??

Montoya has NO value, beyond as UFA when he gets something like 1yr 1Mil deal or something similar. Nobody is trading a pick for him before UFA.

15 games ago when the playoffs were still unlikely, but certainly attainable, winning as many games as possible to finish higher & have the young players gain confidence was important. Now I don't think the players will feel more confident that they finished 24th instead of 25th.

Not that I'm upset with any win from here on out, nor am I saying I'm rooting for them to lose. But I don't think there's anything to be gained by any win remaining in this schedule. Finishing say 10th in the east would have been nice, but now it just doesn't matter. It was yet another lousy year.

I was out most of the day and wasn't able to watch the game or post, but after catching up, it's days like this on the board that make being an Islander fan a bit more tolerable. Love how you guys took the theme and just ran with it -- aweso

Did MacDonald really jump out of the way of contact on that first goal? Is the team really that so
