OT: New Montreal street gang?

Saw this on Montreal ******, thought you guys might shed some more light on this.

Quote:
I've recently been coming across a lot of these very loud and annoying kids, most of them immigrants, yelling annoying people in the metro... They all have a wierd mullet haircut combined with a fauxhawk of some sort. I'm just curious if anyone know what they are? Street gang or just a wierd fashion trend among teenagers?
Basically talking about the adidas track-pants/mohawk-mullet/snapback kids outside of the St-Cath/Mackay McDonalds. Are they affiliated at all, or have a name or place where they're originated?

My post in there, btw, is a story of how I *almost* got my ass kicked by 12 of them.

Yeah I noticed them, they're a bunch of useless turds. They just try to pick up a fight with any one there.

A smiliar story happened to me 2 years ago. I was with two friends, corner of St-Laurent - Ste-Catherine and got attacked by a gang of ''hip-hopeux''. They were white guys, they attacked us with beer bottles. I got hit 3 times with the bottles and got a severe concussion because of it.

Worst part is the Police didnt do **** when they arrived after we called, said they would say, we were the one who attacked them and bla bla bla. Downtown is turning into a jungle, not safe anymore.

edit... his post was edited.

All these jumpings are by horny teenagers who can't get laid and just go out and take their frustration out on people. You can't even avoid it, they chase you down.

the french refer to the these as la "racaille''.

Young kids, who make a lot of noise, think they are tough when in big groups, but want to run scared home to mom when they are alone.

they are annoying as hell.

Happens all the time, especially with immigrant kids from algeria or haiti who have nothing better to do.

The new trend here is with kids Maghreb. The stigma was previously directed towards black kids or Latinos. At my school , it was South-East Asian kids. It's different elsewhere. In Switzerland for example, they had the same issue with Turkish immigrants a few years ago and kids from ex-Yugoslavia today.

There were always trouble makers, they just look and act differently now; more like their french counter-parts in les "cités"

They are both a problem of our society, but also a result of it.

We also have to be careful, because this trend could also lead to rise of nationalist movements.

we can only hope our government is more apt at helping these communities adapt to Quebec society than the French government.

That's what happens when those new generation kids get drunk and think they're hot ****.

It's not really gangsters, just dumb young kids that watch alot of jersey shore.

That Mackay/St-Cath corner is very dangerous...there is a reason why the Mcdonalds have bouncers inside it at night.

Those punks are all ****ing ******* who will only pick a fight with you if they outnumber them by double or triple

yep, i've had my share of encounters with these guys...was outside the library at Concordia's SGW campus smoking a rolled cigarette, group of 8 or so Maghrébin guys (all decked out in skin-tight v-necks, adidas trackpants and mohawks) come up and demanded my cigarette, thinking it was a joint. I keep trying to explain that its just tobacco, but they're having none of it and start getting all up in face. I pass it to him, he smokes just about the entire thing in one or two huge drags, realizes it's not weed, then flicks the lit cigarette into my face before running away as fast as they can, laughing as if this was the greatest joke in the world.

worth noting that on my walk over to the library, i noticed one of these dudes harassing some girl, not letting her walk past them and stepping in front of her everytime she tried to walk away...

Some kids who fit that description tried to pick a fight with me off Bishop a year or so ago, I was walking to Crescent and one of these clowns tried to trip me. I shouted at them in English which was probably a mistake, the two of them got in my face but I just laughed at them and walked away. There was too many people around for them to follow me.

Wasn't the least bit intimidating, if that's a gang it's the saddest excuse for a gang I've ever heard of.

I noticed these kids last time I was in Montreal, have to say they aren't intimidating at all. Being from Halifax, I'd say kids like that would get their ass kicked.

See them all the time hanging around various downtown McD's. They're mostly underweight Maghrebian kids who like to rock that fauxhawk and are known to act tough when outnumbering someone else. They're always being lousy. Never had a physical encounter with any of them, personally. Would love to, though, just to knock one of them out.
