I know we need top end talent but getting that sort of depth kind of like Boston has on its 3rd and 4th lines is just as important imo.

You use other picks then a high first rounders to fill out that role.

I've seen a few Rangers games this and he's stood when in the times I watched.

I may get flamed for this cause he seems to be the darling of this board but I don't think there's much difference between him and Galchenyuk. In fact I would say the main difference is Gachenyuk plays with Yakupov.

Here's some of his work.
Thanks for that. No doubt in my mind he'll be a top-2 C, I just think it's important we get a "franchise" type guy. Can Faksa be that? I've only watched one or two Kitchener games this year. I'm a Knights fan

13 seconds into that third video I seen a maple leaf in the top center of the screen. It's a sign.

Of course that's what teams intend to do when they select with their first round pick. The person I was responding to was talking about a 2nd round pick and imo if Burke picks up a very good 3rd/4th liner for the future then it was a success.

I can see Edmonton trading down and taking a D-man Murray, Reilly etc.

Unless they get the top pick. We have players that Edmonton needs and that is D-man.

I also like Grigorenko the most as he is a Center and he is big.

Hey no need to apologize lol

I would be upset too if Burke used our first to draft Wilson!

Any prospects that are supposed to be going late in the first round that look any good?
I wonder if Burke will trade one of those players mentioned to be able to get a late first rounder. MacArthur?

I honestly feel that Burke should acquire a 2nd first rounder, somewhere, some how

Regardless, you take the best player available. You don't reach for a center especially when you don't even know if he'd make the team out of camp. Even a guy like Galchenyuk may not jump right in.

Looks like the real GMs of the Leafs are finally thinking like the Armchair GMs...

I'd be targeting the Columbus, Edmonton and Islanders picks to move up, and hope that our own is high enough that we're not adding that much more. We have depth but not a lot of high quality, so it would be nice to get on Grigorenko or Galchenyuk first and foremost and try to move out a body for a Faksa pick if that becomes a possibility.

I've said it before and i'll say it again.. I think burke can make a deal with tampa to get their first rounder.

I'm thinking if the leafs give up Luke schenn they can get tampa's first.. Hedmen and Schenn would look pretty damn good on a tampa team that's in win now mode.

They only have so much time left with st louis and lecaviler.. vinny isn't going anywhere but he's not what he used to be. that contract is really hampering that organization.

Either way just tossing it out there. I can't wait until the season is over and we get some clarity on the drafting and where the leafs will finally end up. I just hope we get #5

oilers fans seem to want a forward again... if oilers end up with the second overall pick (prime grigorenko territory) I figured they would reach for a defencemen...

why not trade them our first and a second and a promise of not taking dumba?

My thoughts are why 1 of the 3 when Burke can move assets for another 1st rounder to get 2 of the 3 Centers. NY Isles and Edmonton have been in a rebuild for 5+ years, and it may be time for them to deal for more immediate help. Ie. They can certainly use either Schenn or Gardiner right away instead of waiting, 3+ years for Dumba or Murray.

We could survive the loss of 1 of them, obviously it would hurt but the need at Center is greater, there are not many of them you can trade for. They don't grow on trees.

The more I read about Faksa, the more I like the sounds of him. Outside of the top 3 forwards, definitely sounds like has the most potential. I like the fact he is coming out of the Kitchener Ranger system as they have done a good job the last several years of producing very good NHL forwards (M.Richards, Skinner, Landeskog).
