Maybe we should all chip in and see if we could hire a Voodoo Shaman to perform a de-hexing outside Xcel Energy Center.

I'm serious.

Voodoo shamans are expensive enough to require more than one person pitching money in?

You'll just have to pitch in enough to get flights for my mother.

I'm serious, too. She's one of those new age hippies, close enough. No disrespect towards her intended.

If we're gonna do something like that, we're gonna do it right. That means actually researching to find out who the hell actually knows their Voodoo, gets results, and then a plane ticket and hotel room from wherever to the X.

You're not actually serious, right? Because my sarcasm detector is busted right now.

It's not a bad idea when you think of it. If it succeeds, we have a team that's not cursed anymore, and if we failed, well, we failed gloriously. And probably made the local news.

voodoo doesn't work, all you have to do is streak through the X and do a naked ass slide down center ice.

back on topic, what would make this draft fit the year is if we won the draft lottery and picked malcom subban 1st overall

I don't know but I feel like we as fans should be doing SOMETHING.

I mean, Jackets fans actually protested outside of Nationwide Arena, why can't we do a de-hexing ceremony outside of the X?

I award you a bakers dozen of classless Subbans.

That would be classless.

Those NHL.com scouts have us picking at #4 and either Dumba or Forsberg. I wouldn't mind either personally, but... well, I'd love to see Trouba or Ceci, or Teräväinen. Picking Teräväinen in top 5 wouldn't be my primary choice, though.

I maybe read too much into Russo's response but that actually prompted me to make a post in here asking if we would even take Nail if we got the first overall pick? Just that blunt of response from Russo made me feel like we have no interest in the Russian, which I'm sure isnt exactly the case.. But it would appear that the Wild are going to go a much more conservative route unless the #1 overall just falls in our lap due to the lottery...
There's a number of things you can trust Russo's objective evaluation of, and there's a number of things where you get nothing, or nothing meaningful. Draft evaluation isn't something you'll get out of Russo. He can tell you about the Wild's prospects, which draft picks they hold, and how their young players are doing, but he isn't a go to source for potential drafting insight. As someone else mentioned, if anything, that "no chance" is a statement of Fletcher's behavior. Remember last year they considered moving up in the draft to select Brodin, but decided to wait and he fell to them. Fletcher doesn't seem the type to move up in a draft as open as this one, and Columbus is going to ask for a prohibitive price on 1st overall.

As a side note, an interesting thing I've seen tossed about on the trade forum, but haven't seen a source for: Apparently a number of Wild personnel were scouting Sarnia (ostensibly for Galchenyuk, not Yakupov) and a couple scouts from another team were asked about it and quoted as saying "he's not making it to Minnesota." Seems they think he'll go top 3, or they're overestimating how late the Wild are picking.

Psh, if drafting Malcolm Subban gets us PK, let's do it. Then we can draft Jordan next year (he's a 2013 right?).

Oh to add to the Galchenyuk speculation: HF posters make claims.

I get the thing that they might actually not trade up to draft Yakupov, but im just dreaming about the idea of being able to draft 1st overall, and ending up with a superstar (without conc.)

And Galchenyuk may not be a bad choice at all.. He can play winger, he can score, and his father has been a "pro" and been competetive on high level for a long time, there can be some gene's that can come handy..

I can see the brass being higher on Galchenyuk than Grigorenko.

or he could go 2nd overall maybe even 1st overall if Yakupovs concussions are off putting. which to me they are, gal's injury is a lot more predictable healing wise, yakupov could be out his first hit of training camp might be too much to risk.

I can definitely see that, especially if there are concerns about Grigorenko's compete level.

I was initally hoping that we get a Murray or Trouba, but the more I see of Galchenyuk, the better I feel about the possibility of getting a potential game-breaker at the forward position.

If we get 2nd overall who you think were gonna take. Its gotta be a forward right? I don't see the wild to take grigorenko though with the whole russian thing.
