On the bright side we are very close to getting the 6th draft pick if we tank a couple of strategic games perhaps even 5th or 4th if we tank hard and the Oilers keep playing well. From there we could win the lottery and possible land Yakupov. A guy can dream right....

Haha exactly!

We have the passion and desire to win but not the patience, experience or smarts.

The great thing about that? You can teach patience and gain experience... you can't teach passion.

No. They are the ones he puts out because they're the top 4.

They are the 4 with the most talent.

Jones and Stuart are not the shut down pairing. They are the number 5 and 6 defensemen.

I'm sorry but no one ever will answer the question "Who can we put out there to shut down the opposition", with "Stuart and Jones"

Maybe Stu as he is a good d-man, but he's still a number 5.

Hainsey almost never sees the PP. Bogo has 3 goals on the year (like 4 million posts though) and has a good shot, but at most could be considered a TWD.

Just got back from the game... still fun but man... terrible third period.

I just couldn't over it - we were tired, and sloppy - just a pathetic showing overall. I think the reffing was pretty atrocious in the third and there were some pretty blatant missed calls but that's aside from the point.

On top of that, some juicebag Sens fans pushed me into the row in front of me on that second goal from mittens - I think the drunkness probably had more to do with it than anything but holy **** do people need to tone that **** down

I'm really looking forward to next season - it seems to me right now that the Jets have lost a bit of hope.

Still gonna beat the **** out of the Rangers though!

My hopes for the season are now:

1) Finish ahead of the Maple Leafs in the standings
2) See Kane hit 30 goals
3) Hope the Avs miss the playoffs. Why? Because it's Funkybunny9966's favorite team. Lose Avs, lose.

Yeah, it's petty. But small pleasures.

I know it is loser talk but I will say it...improved draft position.

Jets played hard and still lost, nothing to complain about.
Ending up picking 12th or 13th is pointless IMO.

Enstrom was brutal tonight. Bogo's turnover was pretty terrible but I thought Enstrom made about 5 or 6 plays that were worse. I don't know what was going on with the team tonight in their own zone; they played well enough at the other end of the ice.

I'm sorry, but you could never convince me that Buff is a shut down defenceman.

Not in the run for the playoffs. Take a look around the league - which team that is fighting for the playoffs doesn't go with their "go to" goaltender on a nightly basis.

Because one has a ton of offensive potential and the other USED to be more of an offensive guy. If you don't think Bogo has been used as a shut down guy this year then maybe you haven't seen many Jets games.

No that is actually realistic. Pick in the top 5 and you at least have a shot. Pick top 6 and you still have a prayer at Grego.

NJ moved from 9th to 4th last June.

You could never convince me of that either.

But overall those 4 have the most talent and thus see the most ice time.

While I don't think Stuart should've been stapled to bench as he seemed to be playing strong, Jones dug his own grave tonight unfortunately.

Pavelec and Bogosian both struggled tonight, but to call their seasons anything but a qualified success is lunacy.

You put Pavelec on a Canucks or Flyers team and they are winning the cup.

Bogosian has renewed faith that he will be an elite defenceman within 3 years.

I think that happened tonight. It's remarkable really, how he's managed to do that without getting much help from his linemates. Burmi was once again sub-par tonight. Once Anthro gets back from the injury he should get a crack at that second line center position.

Also I'm feeling very bitter towards the Thrashers organisation. They had so many great offensive players and they let them all go. If we just had one of those players we'd easily be a playoff team

Maybe Claude should give them more ice time?
And Buff is tireless?

I have watched every game. I didn't say Bogo wasn't a shut down guy, I said they put him out when they want goals. He's a good player, but even he missed his assignment twice tonight.

Yes the majority of teams do follow this, however this is Pavelec's 3rd full season in the NHL and is still a growing and maturing tender. He is not a fully established goaltender yet and throwing him to the wolves night after night was eventually going to come back and bite the Jets in the ass.

Having a veteran and re-vamped Chris Mason see no more ice time than when Ondrej lets in 6+ is not a recipe for success.

Define "considerably". 10? 15? 20?

Mason is a good guy but woefully inconsistent. What if he had started an extra 15 games this season? What if in more than half of them he wasn't very good and we were out if it a few weeks ago? People would be arguing that Pavs should have started those games and been ridden like a rented mule while he had a hot hand.

I question the decision to ride Pavelec so hard late in the season, on TV sitting on the bench in the final moments he looked mentally and physical spent. I wouldn't blame the loss on him, but he wasn't particularly sharp either. Mason should have gotten more starts of late.

The Jets were fairly awful in their own end, turnovers galore. The Jets have just plain struggled against Ottawa, dealing with their offensive talent and game plan.
