Winnipeg Free Press: The best home in hockey — period. Many people, myself included, cannot believe that the first regular season for the Jets 2.0 is almost over. It seems highly improbable that we have already seen 39 regular season home games. Make that 39 straight regular season sellouts with 15,004 incredible Jets fans cheering their team and jeering the opposition until the final whistle sounds. The best sports story of the last year by a country mile.
Winnipeg Free Press: Slater is Mr. Dedication. He has shown a dedication to the team and the community that is unsurpassed by anyone else wearing the Jets colours this season. A nice nomination for the Masterton Trophy from the Winnipeg chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
Winnipeg Free Press: ‘It’s out fault’ says Pavelec. The Jets netminder and crowd favourite was visibly upset after the game the team played. Once again, being the stand-up guy that he is, he stood before a gaggle of reporters and answered questions about his team’s loss.
Winnipeg Free Press: The Race. As Mickey Goldmill said to Rocky Balboa “It’s over Rock” and with just 4.1% chance remaining in the Jets playoff hopes it appears all but over. Of course you cannot say the chance for the playoffs are done until the Jets have been officially eliminated so the team still has the opportunity to go on a run.
Winnipeg Sun: Snapshots. One lead too many to overcome. Wellwood’s penalty shot. Bogosian’s giveaway. Miettinen’s pair. Spezza was dominant. Karlsson should win Norris. Wellwood one point shy of career high. Burmistrov tired? Stuart hit anything that moved last night.
Winnipeg Sun: Slater a class act. Whether he is leading the fan favourite GST line or going to work with a fan, his off ice dedication to the community hasn’t gone unnoticed. It will be interesting to see what happens with the pending UFA during the off season.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets in near-impossible situation. The players tried not to allow defeat to creep into their voices today during pre-practice interviews but you got the sense that they are fully aware of the mountain they have to climb.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets dealing with disappointment. That was the feeling today at the rink according to coach Noel.
National Post: Jets on final approach to missing the playoffs. The improvement over the last two Thrashers teams has been marginal, although based on their play at home you would never know that. Lots will need to get done this summer to help this team make that move from marginal playoff team to a team expected to make the post season.
Illegal Curve: Coach Noel pre-practice press conference. The coach gave his players an optional today and spoke to reporters about last night’s loss, what the team can do to move forward and what he expects from the New York Rangers.
Illegal Curve: Jets players pre-practice audio. The Jets held an optional following last night’s disappointing loss to the Senators. We spoke with Tanner Glass, Jim Slater, Zach Bogosian, Evander Kane and Blake Wheeler.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets have mini-hospital close to ice. If you’ve ever wondered what the Jets medial room looks like, here is the grand tour.
