Leafs have 8 games remaining and maximum 16 points available today, so that puts the maximum points on the season at 88 total.

As soon as 8 Eastern teams cross that threshold it is official.

Presently Boston (87), Florida (85), Ottawa (84) and Washington (currently in 8th) (80) & Buffalo (78) and remotely Winnipeg (76) are still preventing Leafs from being eliminated officially.

So technically the scope is a little larger than just Washington but the end is getting very close.

Did not play, playoff odds down 0.02 to 0.08%

Trouble is the teams in front play each other, so the teams in front cannot go pointless, and only have to play at about a .500 pace to get to 88 points, not even taking 3 pointers into it.

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

FFS, I can't wait for this thread to get locked

Playoff odds -10% deport this team to the AHL for the remainder of the season

Really is a shame. None of the teams really played all that well. The Leafs just backed out of the playoffs. For a stretch there none of the teams in contention could win a game. Of course the Leaf collapse made it easy on the others. The Leafs lost every critical game.

Only 4 magic pts (buf wins/tor losses) from elimination now.
