Maybe we all just get excited when we see a player who actually uses his creativity and hockey IQ instead of just shooting to get shots on goal on the score sheet. He is an exciting player to watch! Every player on this team makes defensive mistakes. It seems like if Wilson does, it has to be dissected to no end.
The point blank shot on the pass from Jaden Swartz in the first because of lost coverage? Wilson was on the bench. Also in the O zone, both Radulov and Legwand tried to carry in themselves and turned it over. If that was Wilson you would be be screaming that, that is why he is in the doghouse. Get serious.
I also think sitting Smith is a mistake even though defensively he struggles. At least he adds some excitement to the game.
Cannot argue with your coach though...he gets results! Just saying, if you are going to be critical of Wilson on his very move...look at the rest.
Enough ranting. I hope your team goes far in the playoffs because I think Rinne deserves that fate!
Wilson makes mistakes in all zones and revealed in a radio interview that his initial scratch was the result of his actions away from the puck, on the forecheck, and in the d-zone. He can agree with it or not, but, it's costing him ice time. For the talent Wilson has, he should be a dominant player ... but he only turns it on when he wants. His excitement factor is countered by the aggravation he causes. Guys like Bourque score as many goals per 60mins of ES time as Wilson and Bourque is far from as talented. Effort ... attitude ... those things that keep coming up as from the staff for why Wilson sits. If Wilson matures in the same way Radulov did ...he becomes a superstar. If he doesn't mature soon, he's just one of many good players.
