Since we're all spit balling here, I'll throw a name out there I haven't seen yet, Ryan Getzlaf. He's got what 9 goals, could his value be down especially since he's an ufa in a year too? He fits the mold of the team. You can move Stepan to wing, and Anisimov(if not part of trade) to center the third line. If Dubinsky isn't included in the deal you can deal him for cap relief. A Getzlaf, Richards, Anisimov trio down the middle looks good to me

Doubt Anaheim would move him unless it was an overpayment. He's their captain, and one down year after three as a ppg player is unlikely to shake their confidence in him all that much.

I like Getzlaf, a nice alternative to Perry, but...

But unfortunately this looks to be the bottom line.

I'm still hesitant on giving another long term contract to a player, but with Gaborik coming off the books in two years, and possibly not coming back or resigning for less, makes signing a guy like Parise easier to stomach.

I still think it's a longshot, however.

Capital idea dude. Getzlaf would be absolutely perfect; big, physical, a terrific passer and someone who just might need a change of scenery. Sign me up!

One guy nobody has mentioned and who might be available this summer is Iginla.
He only has one yr left (no long term commitment) at $7m
He wont cost you nearly as much as Ryan, Getzlaf, Nash will because of his age
He gives you a one yr bridge to see if Kreider or anyone else on the roster develops into that role
His style of play fits the team to a "T". Whenever Calagary plays and I watch, the guy is noticeable, and he is playing with Glecnross and Jokinen half the time.

Just thinking aloud......

That's actually a great idea. Would love to see Iginla in blue. Shouldn't cost TOO much.

I doubt they move him. I think they will look to add this off-season like they did last year. They need help on defense for sure but with the addition of Cammlerri their offense is decent.

I didnt think so either, but this got me thinking this morning that it's possible:
http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: LeBrun thinks the Flames need to re-tool, if not a total rebuild. Flames GM Jay Feaster is giving this group one last chance. If it doesn’t work, changes are coming. They will have 6 UFA s and 3 RFA at the end of the season. Jarome Iginla will have one more year at $7 million, and would he want to be around for another rebuild? They may need to have a “heart to heart” with Iginla after the season

Good thought if he's cheap.

Haven't read through the thread so this might have already been discussed, but any chance the Rangers kick the tires on Semin in July? I know he's not a "Tort's guy" and he's been slumping the last couple of years but there's no doubting his offensive potential. Maybe he could help Anisimov take his game to the next level. What do you think he'll fetch in UFA?

I think that Semin, despite his natural offensive talent, is a terrible fit.

Semin is not a Torts player, that's for sure.

Would you take a waiver on him for around 5 million a season? Personally I think he'll get more money overseas and head to the KHL.

If we whiffed on Parise, Nash was still too expensive, and there were no other high-end scorers available via trade? I'd roll the dice on him for one year at less than $5M. There's always the chance that he could find a compete level with the right locker room and right coach, but it's more far likely he'd be in Torts' dog house from day one and we'd see him in the press box as early as December.

Such a waste of talent. If the guy had any sort of compete level, he could probably score 40 goals every year.

Honestly, I'm curious what the situation is in Toronto. I mean the media and fans have been rough on him. Hopefully, Kessel is on the trading block.

Not sure why the Leafs would deal Kessel. He should be part of their solution and he's signed to a pretty reasonable 5.4M cap hit for another two seasons.

Just going by some of the articles and reactions from the fans. Granted, that's not really that good a barometer but who knows.

Iginla, wow what a great fit he would be for the team. A perfect one year bridge like you metioned.

Can only imagine what the Rangers would look like if moves were made off of fan reaction.

Iginla would be terrific with the Blueshirts, but I suspect Calgary wouldn't move him. Calgary is a team that doesn't really roll with 'rebuilding'. I think they'll try to gear up for next year, rather than be sellers. Just my gut telling me that, though.
