From Canada only. Your question is invalid.

Edit: Eric Staal grew up on a (sod) farm. In Canada. This angers Canadians somehow.

They changed the name from Uconn to Connecticut. Canada responded by creating a new territory named Yukon. The rest is history.

I had never thought of it that way, but you're absolutely correct, LadyCane.

I just consulted with my wife, who grew up a Whalers season ticket holder, and noted her Canadian tendencies when answering the question.

TRUE.

Canadians are essentially New Yorkers, but backwards. See if you can spot the subtle difference.

Canadian: How's it goin', eh? (pronounce this as tho you were on valium)

New Yorker: EH, How's it going? (pronounce this as tho you were the Fonz)

The best way to describe a Canadian is to mix together a New Yorker's self righteous holier than thou attitude, with a Philadelphian's demenour and top it off with the brain of someone from Starkville Mississippi

...And? 14th in the East means we'd be picking 5th overall, just after any of the "elite" forward prospects. Sure, we'd get our pick of the glut of defensive prospects, but considering there's just as much chance of grabbing that defenseman at 9th overall as there is at 5th...

I'd much rather end the season looking somewhat respectable than ending it like Toronto.

I've now got a Timmy Brent autographed photo to go along with my Brandon Sutter one. Combine that with the shutout win (screw the tank!)... wonderful birthday if you ask me!

P.S. I felt pretty epic after the Drayson Bowman guess.

Amen to that. The Leafs played like a bunch of guys who were mentally signing contracts elsewhere. I wouldn't want our young guys anywhere near that, especially not for the sake of moving up 1 spot on a long list of B+ prospects.

Even if we tank the rest of the season, it still won't be enough to get us a top 3 pick.

I'd rather go out with our heads held high, then nail it in. Get some confidence in the team for next year. Let them think all summer how if they start the season the way they ended, they won't be golfing so quickly. Last year they started out like poo, made a run and needed 1 game to get in. They came in this year with the same mentality. Start like poo, go on run. Now they can see that starting like poo and going on a run won't always get you 1 point out.

End the season on a hight note and come back kicking ass. I don't ever want to see my team nail it in and look the way Toronto did. I'd much rather play spoiler. We started last night by eliminating Toronto. Now let's take it to Winnipeg Friday and make it harder for them to catch Buffalo.

The Drayson Bowman was a good one. It was taking me a while to get there. It even had my wife temporarily stumped, and she's better at those things than I am.

But dude... seriously... Saskatchewan.

And I'm not kidding that I was yelling "Anton! Anton!" at every question trying to get your attention. I'm surprised Ron the Ref didn't personally throw me out. I wasn't 100% sure yet if that was you, but took a shot at it.

We got there a bit later than we usually do, and wound up basically on the opposite end of the building from you. I heard them announce it was your birthday, and then not long after that I probably wasn't in the best shape to be introducing myself to, well, anyone.

Glad you had a good night and glad the Canes got a win for you.

This. If we had not started winning a few more games like we did, I'd be all for settling back down for a higher draft pick. But now, with just a few games left in the season, we might as well try to play spoiler and keep winning. We need a couple more wins to get Wardo to 30, and maybe we could even try to go for shutout #6 for Ward against an upcoming team. Especially if that team is Winnipeg or Florida...

Also, LaRose, Tlusty, and Ruutu are all within striking distance of 20 goals on the season. The guys still have something to play for (outside of pride, of course).

I commend your team and fans who are rooting against a tank, not many teams are like that and it's a damn shame.

This was an amazing game to be at. Nothing is better than beating the leafs in Toronto, especially considering we knocked them out of playoff contention. Only bad part was we didn't score any more goals once Rynnas came in but they did a good job defending the lead. Leafs made that easy, too, since half their shots were into Ward's chest or glove.

Best part was after the game, though. Gin Antonic knows one of Skinner's cousins so we got to stay in the stands afterwards and meet a bunch of the players as they were coming out. Staal, Skinner, Stewart, Joslin, Larose, Tlusty, Harrison, Gleason and Spacek were all there and we got to take pics and talk to a few of them. I asked Joslin how long he thinks he's playing forward for and he said only 10 games but he's just happy to be playing. Oh and his dad was there and he looks exactly the same.

What a disaster the last 3 games have been. Can still make play offs and get crushed by the worst NHL team I've seen in a while. Out of the playoffs and beat a team we are tied with.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

He's pretty small. I didn't notice at the time but looking at the pic I swear he must have been standing on the step above me because I'm 5-11 but he looks taller. Nice guy, though. I kinda feel bad now that when I start a new game of eastside my first step is always to trade him.
