John Buccigross tweets that JT Brown considering Boston, to decide imminently

From his Twitter:

John Buccigross ‏ @Buccigross

Hearing JT Brown from UMD is down to Phiily, Boston and Tampa Bay

JT is on twitter, so if any of you are Tweeters, say hello! @JTBrown23

He has an athletic pedigree, his father was a Minnesota Viking.

Lore says his shot is so hard, he once knocked the net off the mooring when he hit the post...

He is a point per game player in the NCAA.
21 years old, a bit on the smallish side.

Does anyone know more about him?

That's right. He's just a sophomore, but he could certainly be NHL-ready sooner than later. I chatted briefly today with Bruce Ciskie, an SBNation.com contributor who just so happens to be the play-by-play voice of the UMD Bulldogs. I asked Bruce for a quick scouting report on Brown, to which he simply replied "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF HIM."

Star-divide

"I don't have a scout's eye, but I don't think it's a stretch to say he'll be in the NHL next October," Ciskie said. "Fast as hell. Great shot. Good kid. Propensity for rising to the occasion."

Providence's top scorer was a college FA from last year, he is outplaying top junior players like Arniel/Hamill/Riendeau. Your little anti-NCAA agenda is getting real old.

providence is 2 points out of a playoff spot with 8 games left, so no they are not tanking, and their best player was a college free agent.............

Wait, is this a good thing or a bad thing?

It took a few cops to keep him contained, but he wasn't able to get away.

Said poster does not like

1. College players
2. French-Canadians
3. Americans

I really wish the Bruins would draft an American college player of French-Canadian extraction just for the lulz.

that whole situation sounds ridiculous. Why the hell are the cops busting on him for going out drinking in Duluth?!?! I lived there for years (and loved it!) and there is nothing to do there but drink. Besides...If they carded everybody at that joint, about 75% of the patrons would be underage...Grandma's is the frat-boy's favorite hangout.

There's a certain free agent that fits all 3 categories that I'd love us to sign.

I just tweeted him with my support for Boston, I am sure that will be the deciding factor to have him sign.

I'm confused. Why doesn't he have to go through the draft?

That's because all the top-Jr players are playing for the Bruins

For the record, I'm all for signing these guys, give them a shot and maybe they'll be good. Unlikely but you don't know if you don't try it.

He's 22, too old to be drafted under the new CBA. The cutoff for North American players is 20 (so '92s this year) and 21 for Europeans (so '91s this year) I'm pretty sure.

Me too.

I have hatched out my opinions of drafting NCAA players.. but signing them for free? Why not.
