Adam Schefter ‏ @AdamSchefter
New OT rules passed. Same system for regular season as the postseason.

I don't know why they have to change the OT rules. If you're mad the team that wins the coin toss drives down the field and gets a FG, you should've won the game in regulation instead of letting it get to OT.

I guess because enough people didn't like the old OT rules? Seems that if the old OT rule was so popular (among both fans and teams), then they would have kept it. Simple as that, really.

I know that, just worded it wrong. I just don't see what was so bad about the old system. Teams that lost on a first possession FG in OT had 60 minutes to win the game. Either win it in regulation or get a stop if you lose the coin toss. If you're truly the better team you should be able to do one of those things.

Because society anymore wants everyone to feel like a winner and have a fair shake in life.

My team has won and lost by the old rule. I hated losing in OT but instead of blaming the coin toss because I never got the ball, I blame the defense for not getting the job done.

Maybe the NFL should go to ties for the regular season and keep the new OT rules in the playoffs?

Eventually they'll go to a 10 min full OT session, which is then followed by sudden death. Or something like that.
