I was watching the game last night with my gf who is also a Hawks fan and she was commenting on how similar Sven's style of play is to Patrick Kane. I couldn't really disagree with her, and I won't be unhappy if that's the kind of player that we end up with!

I defently see the comparables between the two, I'd be really happy with Sven having production like Kane
This our version of Linsanity; i was watching Sportscentre last night and it's almost appalling how little attention they make of what Svensation is doing.
so, if the Winterhawks were to get swept in the 1st round of the 'W' playoffs, Sven could be back by the end of the month. If they lose in the first round, Sven could be back right before the playoffs.
either scenario is pretty unlikely, but if we make the top 8, here's hoping.
I've been holding my comments just waiting for the inevitable -- and now it is here. I am very happy that Sven is going to be a Flame and anticipate a long and storied career. I get to Calgary for business (and a steak at Caesars) now and again. How hard is it to get single tickets for games?
In the meantime, Portland dropped several heart-breakers down the stretch and is now locked into third place. Playoffs start here this coming Friday and our schedule is:
Game 1: Thursday, April 7 at the Rose Garden, 7 p.m.
Game 2: Sunday, April 10 at the Rose Garden, 5 p.m.
Game 3: Tuesday, April 12 at Kelowna, 7:05 p.m.
Game 4: Wednesday, April 13 at Kelowna, 7:05 p.m.
Game 5*: Friday, April 15 at the Rose Garden, 7 p.m.
Game 6*: Sunday, April 17 at Kelowna, 5:05 p.m.
Game 7*: Tuesday, April 19 at the Rose Garden, 7 p.m.
(*If necessary)
The Hawks took the regular season series 3-1, so with Sven back, I don't see how they won't kick Kelowna to the playoff curb in short order. And while it was painful to see us lose the tough games and a shot at back-to-back Western Division titles without him, there is no doubt that the taste of success he had in Calgary will make both him and his teammates even more confident in their chances to win the Memorial Cup -- especially now that everyone knows he will be in Calgary as a full-timer next year. So big props up to the Flames for recognizing Sven's star potential and giving him the chance to show it. The first round is on me next time I'm in town.
Just a quick little update on Sven. 3 games played so far in the playoffs, 9 points. He has 2 goals, 7 assists and is absolutely dominating out there.
So excited to see what he brings next year.
Terrible thread bump. I know he can't be called up again, but still. You have every right to make a new Baertschi thread. I don't think anyone would give a ****.
