Stupid NHL and its unpredictability.
We are to the Canes as y'all have been to us. Half of the reason why we want to be in the East is the timezone setup; the other half is the opportunity to play against Carolina more often. Put the opponent in a red-and-black sweater and the next thing you know Jared Boll becomes a scoring forward:

Also:
Steve Mason vs. Canes: 5-0-0.
Cam Ward vs. Jackets: 0-5-0.

It's just crazy, maaaan.

That could be helped along by the Blues helping Nashville get 4th place....

I heard him say "coast to coast" and thought immediately, "********. Boll received a pass like... three feet from the blueline. Coast-to-Coast in Florida maybe..." Rimer is such a pathetic announcer

It was a nice goal, though. I'm surprised he didn't lose the puck when he ran into that broken stick.

Welcome back, Viqsi! I saw some deleted posts from you yesterday, and got a little excited

Per Josh Cooper:
Quote:
The idle Predators can clinch today [Wednesday] if Los Angeles, San Jose or Dallas lose in regulation. They will also make the playoffs if two of those three lose in a shootout or overtime.
LA @ Calgary
Dallas @ Edmonton
San Jose @ Anaheim

San Jose plays LA 2x and Dallas 2x to end the season so that will knock at least one of them out.

Also, come on Columbus, have some pride and take out this season's frustrations on Detroit. Please.

To me, Friday's game is a must-win. Not just for standings purpose, but because this team needs to prove to itself that they can go into the "Joe" and get a Win. Because whether we are 4th or 5th, we're going to have to at some point win a game in the playoffs in the JLA.

If Columbus loses, or should I say, when Columbus loses to Detroit tonight, any hope of finishing 4th hinges on beating Detroit in Motown on Friday.

A loss there, and we should pretty well accept that we'll be the road team in any playoff series.

Which is probably fine because series home ice advantage really only comes into play in a game 7 situation. Nearly every playoff series winner has won at least 1 game on the road. Even with home ice advantage, without a road win our chances of taking the series is slim.

i agree with that, the problem is the idea of losing the FIRST two and having to dig out of a two game hole.

Or on the other hand, say we get home ice and win the first two games. Then Detroit wins their next two homes games and we go back to Nashville with Detroit having all the momentum. It goes both ways since the advantages and disadvantages balance each other out, except in a game 7.

Bottom line, you pretty much have to win a road game to win a series. And once a road game is won, home ice advantage goes out the window until game 7.

Winning games now is important though, simply out of confidence.

You have to win road games but you'd like to be able to not be up against the wall right away and then just play at home first.

Also, I think it's weird that every series we've ever played, win or lose, has ended at home.

If the Preds lose to the Wings tomorrow I hope they lose enough to get the 6th seed. I want no part of the Wings without home ice. I would much rather face the West winner, whoever that ends up being.

They're 4-3-1 at the Joe since their record breaking home win streak ended. Tonight is their only game remaining against a non-playoff team. The biggest factor is we need to beat them Friday. Do that and home ice is still a very real possibility.

Well the team as a whole hasn't been as dominant as usual lately but still I give them the benefit of the doubt especially if/when they start to have a lot of their injuries healed.

Is it weird that I'm cheering for Columbus to turn it around and be competitive next year?

Obviously tonight, but I'm legitimately rooting for them to be competitive again. To me, their the little brother that we love to beat up on, but I don't mind them if they aren't playing us.

If the Jackets screw up this 4-1 lead...words can't describe the anger.
