I know people say stuff like this all the time, but do people actually think pro hockey players care about picking 2nd overall vs. playing as well as they possibly can?

Of course they don't. No one expects the players to give any less than 100%. I was responding to someone who thinks it's odd that the fans might be thinking long term.
