Yeah, i think NY's got it. Pittsburgh blew their chance losing to Ottawa and the Isles in the past week.

Philly is by far the most dangerous team to Crosby's health. Philly loses their cool when they go down, and if the series looks like it's about to get wrapped up, Crosby better keep his head on a swivel looking out for Rinaldo.

Hell, since the Flyers are winning the cup this year, why not eliminate the Penguins first .

How ironic would it be if Talbot were the one to take the run at Sid?

I highly doubt anybody on our team takes a run at Crosby. If anybody is getting run on the Pens it'll be Malkin. He'll have to deal with angry Coburn and Grossmann most shifts.

the more folks are already talking about it i just want the inevitable to get here. Its perfect that these teams play each other twice in the next week. its going to be very heated and set the stage for this series. i think all eyes will be on this series all around the league.

I just hope the refs don't make a major impact on this series. I am not sprouting the Gary Bettman loves the penguins conspiracy either. Both these teams play on the edge. I would hate to have a parade to the box over bs roughing calls and after the whistle stuff that isnt egregious. I know Bylsma has already made a plea to the refs after the last game between these two. This would be the best series to put the whistles away.

Or the ten-billionth time. This trash is beyond old. Every damn day this same lame-brained thing gets posted. This wishing for a player (especially the best player in the game) to have his career ended is sickening and insane.

I just hope the players actually have some idea of what they can do. From what I've been watching, nobody out there actually knows what is and isn't a penalty anymore. Just keep it consistent for the whole series please.

Rangers-Buffalo/Washington
Philly-Pittsburgh
Boston-Ottawa

I'd watch the crap out of those series. Ottawa, hang on.

So much stupidity in this thread already.

As if the Flyers are just like the pimple-ridden, gameboy playing adolescents posting here about them going after Sid who will comply with your little under-the-covers fanboy fantasies. Get a grip (figuratively speaking).

Two, the Flyers may have the scrub Rinaldo, but if you think the Pens shy away from anyone, you don't actually the games. The Pens are as gritty and nasty as anyone.

Exactly! But, then again, you understand that because you actually watch hockey and understand how a coach actually thinks and are not simply parroting fanboy fantasies.

Coburn - Grossman: The Shutdown Pairing.

I can't wait til these two start wrecking everything that moves.

ya that's going to be the big matchup story of the series: who can cover JVR?

Not a fan of either team, but not gonna lie, this would definitely be THE playoff match-up of the first round for me if it comes to fruition.

Taking nothing away from Nash/Det, but the star power in Pens/Flyers is off the charts. If the Flyers get any type of decent goaltending this thing would go seven.

It's not the same without a healthy Crosby, and no Pronger/Richards.

The only person that would take a run at Crosby might be Rinaldo, and if he's out on the ice with Crosby I hope he takes a run at somebody, even a ref, as soon as possible. Just need someone to blow the whistle before we get scored on.

I have a feeling someones going to be very disappointed in a few weeks. I will assume you still live with your parents, so I hope they can help you through it.

Grossman and Coburn almost made me spit out my coffee laughing. I hope you can find a couple other "Shutdown Pairings" They will also make a great pairing at one of Philadelphias finest country clubs in a few weeks.

I feel like there's a difference between wishing a player to be hurt and saying a player probably will get hurt.

Gotta love the main board, brings out the best of the internet.

For every legit post there are a half dozen Flyers fans bragging about how Rinaldo is going to take Crosby out of the series (he won't. why do people think they will see the ice at the same time or that rinaldo will play more than 3 minuntes a game?) or Penguins fans making weird jerking off under the covers jokes.

Come on baby somebody throw me some emoticons or use the phrase "********" just to round things out!

The two teams will meet twice in the remaining games and the Flyers get a shot at the Rangers as well. At this point it appears these two teams will be battling for home ice advantage in what looks to be the premiere matchup in the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals.

The interest of this inevitable series is the stunning play of superstar Evgeni Malkin as he clearly emerged as the team leader in the absense of Crosby. Now Crosby is back and the Pens are nothing short of lethal. Claude Giroux has come out of the shadows with increased ice time with the dealings of Richards and Carter. It was inevitable that Giroux would increase his point production with major minutes as well as serving on both special teams units. Scott Hartnell, paired up with Jagr and Giroux has found himself having a career season along with newcomers Wade Simmonds and Max Talbot. 25 year old Matt Reid has also surfaced as an established rookie in his mid twenties. For the Pens, James Neil has been a PP specialist this year finding the net moreso than any other player along with the Flyers Hartnell.

No longer does this rivaly have the head to head clash of Richards and Crosby, nor will Chris Pronger be available to try to stop the train known as Malkin. This series, if it happens, will write the newest chapter in the Battle of PA saga. The well established and now joined by their captain Sidney Crosby Pens will be looking to extend the dominace of recent playoff series' against the young gun new look Flyers. Giroux will now go head to head with Crosby and the aging Jagr will get a chance to play on the other side with a team nobody thought he would ever play for. The possibilities are endless and its a no brainer that neither team is winning in 4. Hopefully if this round 1 battle comes to fate, this thread can serve as the fuse to be lit by fans of both teams.
I keep hearing about this Wade Simmons guy... He better show up during the playoffs

honestly, does it matter though? I say rest bryz and play bobs from here out and let the chips fall where they do... we're in the playoffs. facing the rangers or the pens doesn't make me warm and fuzzy either way.

as long as it's not a 1 sided blowout and sweep, it should be (and I expect) a very hard fought battle and an 'edge of your seat, pucker moment' the entire series.
