Quietly had an awesome game tonight (I know, duh, shutout). It can't be easy to see nothing for minutes at a time, then boom, dude open in front of the net off a faceoff.
The game play and strategy by the Kings was executed perfectly. Minimize scoring chances, pounce on errors from the opposing team, suffocate the middle of the ice... they couldn't have played the game any more perfectly (ok maybe a few more connected passes, better PP, and less dumb penalties).
Amazing that Quick just set a Kings record with 9 shutouts in a season. Goes to show you just how bad LA's goaltending has been throughout its history that he broke a record held by Rogie Vachon since 1977. Quick's already third on LA's record books of wins by a Kings goalie (behind Rogie and Hrudey) and second behind Rogie in overall shutouts, trailing him by 11 shutouts with 22. He'll eventually surpass Rogie in all categories.
No, need Cap conservation....don't even get nominated Quick.....
i was happy that doughty was nominated for norris, and happier he didnt win it. quick will get the nod for vezina this season, and i hope he doesn't get it. cheaper sign, and maybe a bit of a chip on the shoulder. he'll still win it, just like doughty will win his norris.
i just hope they win these type of awards AFTER they win a cup.
3-2 to make the playoffs, 4-1 to win the Division.
Other than some silly penalties, a solid, quality win from start to finish... I'm very glad my fears were somewhat allayed. Now it's time to keep showing that this team might actually have that "mental toughness" by keeping it up against Edmonton.
Williams Kopitar and Brown all + 3 on the evening and VV DD and WM all had a point too.
VV is in his rookie year and already looking as good as I thought he would be during his draft year. Solid job by Futa and our exceptional scouting staff and great job by DL to pick him up.
DD and MR look like they are playing with post concussive syndrome at times. Too bad we won't get a break to rest them between today and the playoffs.
A Mart looking solid as expected and so are King and Nolan. I am happy that Teddy is getting so much happiness out of watching his kid play so well. Cut from the same cloth.
GO KINGS GO!!!
I think DD and MR had a really good game tonight. They probably were the the two biggest battlers out there outside of the obvious defense first guys.
Watching the Flames play badly was like watching the Kings when they play bad. Its like they are mirror images. The Flames fumble, flub, misplay, and overskate the puck all over the ice and at especially the most critical times like when they are wide open!
Hopefully the guy(s) calling Kopitar "overrated" got to see him play today; he was all over the place. He made some really nice plays defensively that can go unnoticed.
Wasn't able to watch the game tonight, but it was a pleasant surprise to see the scoreboard and read through the threads on here afterward. Quick's on a roll, hopefully the rest of the boys follow suit. Get this **** done and let's get ready for April!
While we're playing Edmonton twice and Minnesota the Sharks have got Dallas twice and Phoenix. I guess we decide who to root for on a game by game basis. Let's just hope they all end in regulation.
