Tanking for multiple lottery picks, stocking up on 1st and 2nd round draft picks, and drafting well/making some smart trades is a good way to build a team. However, the Preds are a budget team that is constantly drafting well, making smart trades, and most importantly competing in a tough division despite not having the money to retain all their good players (Hamhuis, Hartnell, Timonen, Vokoun, and possibly Suter, Redulov, Weber in the future). Preds are one of the best run franchises in the league. I'd adopt their team building strategy any day.
Poile has done an incredible job........just don't want to see the Kostitsyn bros. winning a cup after dogging it in Montreal.
Stl probably. Usually don't start pulling for teams until I've been watching some games. Once a series gets entertaining enough to gain my attention ill jump on someones bandwagon. Last year I wound up with the choice between Vancouver and Boston. Almost didn't watch it
While I do enjoy watching hockey games that don't involve the Habs during the regular season, during the playoffs, I find myself impossible to take away from the TV. Playoff hockey is a LOT of fun to watch, no matter who is involved.
I'll be watching the Preds for the same reasons stated by many before me. I'll be pulling for the Blues as well. Btw, you can be a fan of Halak AND Price! Out East... Mhh... That's tougher. I hope the Sabres make it, I really like them. I can't stand the Rangers, Bruins, Flyers, Senators and Devils, so yeah... That leaves me few choices!
Obviously I understand why so many support Nashville, but I want their pick to be as high as possible. Maybe I'm just greedy, but a #50-55th overall pick could mean a better player for the Habs than a #56-60th overall pick.
Honestly, as long as Boston doesn't win again or Rangers win I would be fairly happy.
