So younger players like Carl Hagelin could make the team and players like Callahan, Stepan, Dubinsky, and Anisimov would take bigger roles.
I would say the move has been 90% effective. The only negative items not projected were Dubinsky's slump as well as the 15 game stretch Anisimov was dealing with personal issues.

Pretty much, although I'd feel a lot better with this answer if John Mitchell, who contributes basically nothing, wasnt dressing every single night.
Cause he's old with bad knees, as for PA , the Isles are giving him first line minutes, which he would not get with us , I'm also sure his line mates are helping contribute to his success
maybe replacing Mitchell, but you have to remeber that before the season started Avery, Zuc, WW, and EC were all going to be fighting for a spot....Mitchel wasn't even in consideration
For the same reason they'll let Fedotenko walk this off-season...they have better and younger options.
I would have much rather let Fedotenko walk last off-season and let Prospal walk this off-season.
Truly I believe his injuries were a concern. I think everyone is surprised he's played a full season. Bad knees on an older player typically doesn't go well in the new NHL where younger and faster rains supreme.

there was no spot for Vinny
He replaces Fedotenko and when Dubinsky isn't scoring, aka all season, he becomes a permanent fixture on the 3rd line while VP is rooted in the top6.
Prospal's ability to keep playing and racking up points even with his ever-declining speed/skating is a testament to how hard he works. It's impressive. The guy can barely move out there, has been getting worse every year, but still puts up points and busts his ass out there. He has some drive.
Prospal needs a hand truck to move around the ice. His knees are shot.
Still he'd be 4th in points on this team this season. Probably one of the most unappreciated players that has been on this team lately. I loved him. Good vision, passionated and seems to be a good locker room guy.
We seem to be doing pretty well without Prospal. Earlier in the year, I would have preferred him over Wolski. Now? I no longer care as this team is contending for the President's Trophy.

he probably wouldnt be getting the minutes he does over there in this lineup.

anyone who says they predicted dubi to have such a poor statistical season is a blantent liar
hindsight is 20/20 but the consencus was that there was a single spot as a 3rd/4th liner for one of vinny or feds. Feds made, and still makes, a lot more sense in that role.
A better question would be, why did CLS re-sign him instead of dealing him at the deadine? I think he would have been the perfect depth piece to add to this team.

That is a better question from a Columbus standpopint anyway. That made very little sense. With the prices that people were going for you might have been able to pry a 2nd rounder away from someone .
why did we let prospal walk in the latest offseason
I wanted him back, but thats me..cause if we had him.I wouldnt have to watch mitchell mostt likely.
Prospal was good here in NY,liked it here and wanted to stay here and i would have welcomed him back ofcourse......I never had any complaints about the guy..Great personality, leader, team guy and plays hard in night in and night out.

What about Dancin' Anson Carter? Seriously, what is with all this player remorse? Prospal is old and beat up. Hagelin has been amazing. And unless I see PAP light it up playing with some scrubbier players (Tavares and Moulson carry that line by and far) like say he played in Minnesota on a line with Matt Cullen and Guillaume Latendresse (he'd have like a 15-20-35 season) I'm not gonna give a damn about him. PAP has like 50 assists this season? He just has to be on the ice and he's gonna get like 30 by default. Oh boo, why didn't we resign Rich Pilon!

My take is they need to improve their team both immediately and in the long term. He offers the team veteran leadership from a cup winning player. Plus, CLB is probably at a point where if they can offer a player a contract and that player actually accepts, they should consider themselves lucky.
