Phaneuf for Schenn, JVR?
Phaneuf can be a great #2 when Pronger comes back (Hopefully) and can fill in for #1 spot for now and Schenn got beat by Couturier getting a spot and JVR is rumored to have value comparable to L.Schenn so IMO the price to move up from L.Schenn to Phaneuf is a top prospect, So what do you think?

Phaneuf sucks on D, slow and imo overpaid.
I am not trading that much for Phaneuf.

In this proposal Phaneuf worth more than M.Richards.

imagine Hartnell and Phaneuf on the same team. lol Oil and water, suck it Phaneuf.

I'd have zero doubt this package could get us Weber, in case he'd be available.

So why again would we trade this for a #3 dman?

Maybe with 2 1sts, A top prospect since 09 sitting in AHL for most and a injury-riddled player going 2nd overall in a weak draft would get you King Weber+Phaneuf is a good #2, Okay #1

Someone lied to you sir. You're being conned.

Phaneuf is just a Meszaros upgrade really. We don't need another defensemen with tons of talent who likes to take himself out of the play by making big hits. Phaneuf also has some Carle-esque qualities with the puck that would make some people here in Philadelphia rage.

You don't explain how that top prospect, once the top prospect in the world, made juniors and even international competition look like a joke and is now only 20.

You also don't mention that the 2nd overall in a weak draft class put an entire NHL playoff team on his shoulders at the age of 21, just last year.

Toronto Maple Leafs fans seem to have this bad habit of talking down all of the players they want to acquire by mentioning facts completely out of context or situation meanwhile expecting the other person in the discussion to go, "Oh, you're right. They suck. Here's your players. What an awesome deal the salesman told me I was getting!!"

No to this deal.

Schenn is playing on the 2nd line and Couturier on the 4th. Schenn gets PP time, Couturier doesn't. How exactly did Couturier beat out Schenn again? They're both contributing in the line-up right now in different ways.

Outstanding counter-offer

I was going to go with Briere for Phaneuf straight up.

Only in Toronto is it viewed as a good idea for one of the worst defensive teams to trade their best (albeit overpaid and overrated defenseman) for two young inconsistent forwards...

That being said I wouldn't touch this or really any trade with Toronto they have almost nothing of value that we need.

What a steal for Toronto the ham is most valuable asset in the trade. Honey glazed spiral cut Ham.......mmmmmmmmm

FYI do you know that a minor league pitcher was once traded for like 50lbs of catfish? No joke. I'll see if I can dig up the article online.

You're severely underrating the ham by including it with Shelley. If Holmgren adds a second from (I don't know) 2024, could we also ask for the author of Down Goes Brown?

Minor leaguer traded for 10 pounds of catfish

OXNARD, California (AP) -- So how much is minor league pitcher Ken Krahenbuhl worth in a trade?

In one of the most bizarre swaps in Western Baseball League history, the Pacific Suns in Oxnard traded Krahenbuhl on Thursday to the Greenville (Mississippi) Bluesmen for a player to be named, cash and 10 pounds of catfish.

“I still can't believe they traded me for some catfish,” Krahenbuhl said Saturday, shaking his head in disbelief. “It's totally ridiculous.”

However, Krahenbuhl made the most of the trade for the Bluesmen on Friday night, pitching a perfect game for his new team.

“The Suns could have gotten some players in exchange for me to help their ballclub, instead of the stinking catfish, but they just don't care,” he said. “They traded me for catfish. Can you believe that?”

Strange trades are not new to the Greenville Bluesmen. Last year, the team traded an unopened Muddy Waters blues record and 50 pounds of pheasant to Sioux Falls of the Northern League for a second baseman.

No doubt. Burke can't give Kadri away. How stupid does Burke look now, instead of tanking to get Tavares he got an AHL lifer....

Phaneuf? I wouldn't give ANYTHING FOR HIM. Zero. He'd be our highest paid player or thereabouts, and be the 15th best guy on our team. Pass.

Burke built the core of his team around a Captain who would not make our top 4, a smurf scoring winger who is too tiny to check anyone, on the rare occasion he tries, and a goalie who'd played well in half a year during garbage time.

The Leafs are screwed for another year of futility next year, then Burke will get fired and the new GM will have to start over. Playoffs by 2018 or bust! Go Leafs Go - Golfing.

In the meantime, we get morons trying to get JVR and Brayden Schenn for Phaneuf.

On behalf of all Canadians, I apologize for the stupidity of the OP. It's embarrassing.

I wonder what L. Schenn's trade value is right now among GMs, considering the disastrous season he's put in. It seemed like Schenn was on the highlight reel every night for all the wrong reasons. And to think I was somewhat tempted by JvR for Schenn when it was first emerging.

[shakes own head vigorously]

Hahaha, I love how he thinks Phaneuf will fill the number 1 spot. Timonen still plays hockey, right?

The only player on Toronto with any real trade value that can be moved is Gardiner. I would consider a JVR for Gardiner +(at least a 2nd this year since it is so high up in he round). Luke Schenn's value has dropped precipitately this year do to play and contract.
