Say what you want about him and the situation between him and Clarke (Clarke was a ***** and a bad GM, Lindros' parents were too invasive), but he was one athlete that truly wanted to bring a championship home for the city. Not delivering the cup to Philadelphia is something I'm sure he regrets about his career.
I'll never forget his speech when he accepted the 94-95 Hart trophy. He was almost in tears thanking the fans of Philadelphia for their support and promising that the team was going to get better and compete for the cup.
People can say whatever they want about his career but I agree 100% that he cared and probably regrets not being able to win a cup here.
Several posters have spoken jokingly about Eric signing for one more shot at glory, but I'll be honest, there's a tiny little part of me that remembers the old Eric and wishes if even for a game that they'd let him play once more in a real game. Yes, I recognize it's fantasy land (or is it? ) but man would it bring back so many good memories. Talk about an emotional lift for the playoffs.
