I'd be for a 1 day, 1 preseason game retirement contract.

I wonder if there's some way we can petition Snider to make this happen.

“If I can play, why not?” Jagr asked. “He’s younger than me. He would have to lose some pounds. Maybe 20. But that’s easy to do.”
Jagr said lose some weight.

I do think it would be such a great gesture to Eric, and the fans, to sign him on a 1 day contract, wheel him out for 5 mins in a pre-season game, so he can retire as a flyer, and go out on a high instead of being injured all year with Dallas, playing with his wrist basically shot, after the year before with toronto he had shown flashes of brilliance, but still faced innumerable injuries .

It would be the perfect ending to his career.

I wouldn't call it a perfect ending. More like a fitting ending.

Sign me up for this. Seriously, would love to see some kind of online petition set up for it.

It's great to see him and the organization getting on better speaking terms.

A pre-season game where he plays with Jagr (who has been re-signed, obviously) and Giroux... I wouldn't mind that at all.

That speech is preciously what I was referring to. You just don't see it often in sports, especially with a highly touted phenom in the league. He was as perfect of a player as you could have in hockey, pure scoring talent, playmaking ability, big, strong, physical, and could drop the gloves with the best of them. The reason I really started watching hockey and his jersey was the first I ever owned it currently adorned with nearly 50 signatures of various Flyers from over the years hanging on my bedroom wall. Really pains me me how his career in Philly ended and that we just weren't able to win a cup while he was here.

He still suffers from post-concussion symptoms. He won't jeopardize his health anymore.

As I stated when the Spectrum closed and he partook in the video tribute, that was phase one of the healing. It was a terrific gesture on both sides and he showed his dedication to the community by accepting. The Winter Classic was a much larger step. He seems to respect Holmgren and it'll be unsurprising if there's a process of business and charitable pursuits between the parties. It would be awesome for him to suit up again but he doesn't need the attention and possible risk.

I am grinning ear to ear reading this thread... i nostalgia'd hard. Seeing him and jagr on the same ice wearing the same logo in 2012 is something you would laugh at 10 years ago, even if it's just a practice.

Do you guys remember when Fleury was with the Flames for training camp? Played a game and scored in the shootout. That was so incredibly awesome.

Nice to see him on the ice, and nice to see him in flyers colours. That alumini game really smoothed over the cracks in the relationship between the big E and the flyers brass. It's a good thing too, he was such a massive part of this organisation for the little time he was here
so you're obviously that guy

I just want this on here for the record: He is contemplating a comeback, and may actually attempt one next year. Mark my words.

He's testing the waters too much. It's like texting an ex to "just say hi," it eventually turns into bangin'. I'm not saying he will make it, play a full season, anything like that, but the gears are turning, and with the push from Jagr to Giroux, he might consider it. You could see the twinkle in his freakin' eye.

He reported that just a couple months ago he had a period of once again suffering from post concussion symptoms... I highly doubt he takes the risk to further put his health/head in danger.

Wouldn't be the first time someone's put their passion over their health. I'm not saying it's wise to do, or that he's definitely going to do it, but I'd be a fool to say he wasn't kicking the idea around.

Well just wanted to say that on TSN they asked if he was thinking about a comeback and he laughed it off and said no way.

I highly doubt he does.

He'd only say that if it's part of a smoke screen.
