This is easily the lowest point of the Leafs Franchise. Never has the team looked so poorly, and the entire fanbase (including the dispassionate ACC) look completely and utterly fed up with this team.
I must say, I am enjoying watching this trainwreck..
Thanks. It just shows how bleak things are here. When the Leafs were doing well earlier this season, I was getting ragged on (online and in real) by fans of other teams constantly. Now, there's zero mocking and tons of conciliatory messages. Its so bleak no one wants to even make fun of them.
In summary, go Jays.
On the Philly broadcast tonight, it was mentioned that there were 3 remaining players in the NHL that were part of the Leafs last playoff squad.
That made it real to me. I simultaneously feel old and sad.
I'm holding my judgement on Carlyle till the end of next season.
It's clear as day that this team has given up on eachother and themselves this year.
Same here. I'm willing to wait and see what Carlyle can do with a full season. It's not an easy transition from run and gun to a defensive, structured style of game.
That said, there's definitely a character issue on the team right now. A whole lot of passengers, no pride, and no guts outside of a select few. If there aren't some major changes this off-season, it's going to be more of the same.
getting guys who fit a psychological profile of being able to play in Toronto. It seems like he talks about guys who can play in Toronto and handle off the ice events. Is this his and his staff's biggest mistake in evaluating players. I remember him talking about how Gustavsson fitting a psychological profile of being able to play in a market like Toronto. I think it is safe to say there needs to be a change in evaluating players from that standpoint because they're clearly crumbling under this pressure and we are only talking about regular season.

It's still a really sad fact but if someone is going to tweet facts, at least get them right, lol.
Players from the playoffs: Antropov, Ponikarovsky, Stajan, Kaberle.
Played that season (but not in the POs): Colaiacovo, Wellwood.

Outstanding reporting, imo. Calling it like it is, not afraid of "Big Blue" haha I love Dion's interview
About the torment of the cataclysmic collapse: "We slid and could not regain it". Real insightful DD. @ him saying "it's a team game" when the journo calls him out on his **** play with this 5 wins in 24 games ********.
Phil just made me literally lol when he added the "Ha" at the end of the clip. What a piss
did they take the vid down or something? it plays one second of the sportscaster and then loads the beginning of the whole news cast (and i scrubbed though but couldn't find sports)
Exactly. When they get in a scrum it is 2 or 3 guys on one. The rest of the team pisses their pants and stand around.
We need to bring in 2-3 tough guys that can play. People like gaustad, moen, kelly. Guys that don't back down and support team mates.
How the hell does Burke have the time to post on HFBoards after a loss like that??? Gaustad, Moen and Kelly???? Seriously you have less of an idea what is needed for this team than Burke does. Unless you are Brian Burke. Gaustad - what a great 4th line center - that's all the team needs - a 4th line plugger - but he's great on faceoffs! Moen? Doesn't this team already have Steckel? Kelly???? He SUCKS on any average to bad team.
Tough guys my GOD. If only Armstrong and Orr had been healthy this year. Army could have injured a couple guys with their heads down and Orr would have totally beat up Carkner again! YEAAAAHHH!!! AWESOME!!!!
Do you think the Kings would have given up Schenn and Simmonds for Kessel and Kadri? Would you have done it? Would the Kings have done it (probably not). That's what this team needs - real players - not more tough pluggers like ****ing Mike Brown. Trade Kessel plus or minus whatever for somebody like Dustin Brown, Bobby Ryan, Tuomo Ruutu or Eric Cole. Or Mike Richards - the Leafs need character and balls - not spineless dooshes like Phaneuf.

It's always darkest before Dawn. Hope the Leafs fix this team in a hurry. You Toronto fans deserve a winner and a team you can be proud of. We all want to see the Flyers. - Leafs rivalry return to its post lockout form.
On the bright side, us Toronto fans look forward to seeing the Phillies in the Series this year
