COACH & PLAYER QUOTES

You can’t just sit back. You can’t wait for them to come at you. I thought it was a great team effort the whole game. That’s the type of game we have to play.’’ (on the strong start…) “Years before, me personally or whoever was on the team, we came in and we got caught off-guard by their start, because they always come out of the gate really hard. That’s kind of their statement right off the hop, and tonight we wanted to come out just as hard, if not harder, and push them back on their heels. We were able to do that right off the hop, get some shots in the early going.’’ (on his chemistry with Dustin Brown…) “We’ve been only playing together for six years, so it’s about time. [laughs] It wasn’t easy, earlier, obviously for anybody, what we had going on. Right now, Willy is a big part of this line too. He’s been making some really good plays and scoring some big goals. The way we’re going right now, I’m enjoying it on the ice and it’s enjoyable to play, and I’m sure the other two are enjoying it just as much, so we have to continue playing like that."

I feel like it was kind of — not to say it in a bad way — but just a matter of time, because the way the game is going, how defensive-minded it is and how goals are so hard to come by nowadays. At the end of the day, though, it’s two points and that’s all that matters right now. I think we maybe bump up a spot or two (in the standings). That was a huge win.’’ (on the importance of getting back into a playoff spot…) “Absolutely. That’s all we were focused on here today. That’s all that matters.’’ (on whether he expected more from the Flames in the third period…) “You always expect a little more than four shots, but that’s a credit to how the (defensive) guys played in front of me. They were solid all night long, defensively and on the PK. We weathered some storms there on the PK. It was a big road win for us."

"We skated tonight, and we controlled the game because of it. We seemed to be on our toes. Everyone was reading off of each other good. That’s the main thing. We were on our toes and we didn’t give them any space out there. They’ve got some guys who can dangle, who can make some moves. We shut them down. We did a good job on the PK as well.’’
(on scoring an early goal…) “It’s great for the psyche, absolutely. I think, all too often, sometimes you fall into the trap of getting comfortable, and we certainly didn’t do that tonight. We kept going at them. We didn’t give them anything in the neutral zone, and in turn they didn’t have many rush chances.’’ (on improvements from the previous game…) “It’s just work. That’s all it is. I’d like to try to analyze it a little more, but it’s plain and simple, cut and dried. We had guys on the forecheck. Their D didn’t have any time to make plays, and when they did, we finished them. I thought we played a good 60 minutes.’’ (on whether it’s nice to hear the opposing fans boo…) “It certainly is, yes. Absolutely. When you can beat a team and have that killer instinct like we did tonight, we kept coming at them. Any time you hear boos in the opposing arena, that’s certainly what you want."

The game we lost at home, before we came on the trip, we thought was our best game. We had won six straight, and it was the best game we played. It’s in your own hands. That’s the way you want it. (on knocking down Calgary’s playoff chances…) “It’s not about that, right? It’s so tight. It’s like I talked this morning and the last time we were here. What’s the difference between sixth, seventh, eighth (in the conference)? One inch. That’s the way it is. They were coming off a big win. We were coming off a tough loss to Vancouver. That’s all that matters. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters.’’ (on the strong start to the game…) “It’s trying to have your own identity in it. That’s what you’re trying to do. When two or three guys drift away from it, that’s when you struggle with it. We don’t have the great veteran experience. If you look tonight, Cammy [Michael Cammalleri], Tanguay and Jarome, together they probably have more experience than our whole team in these situations. You’ve got to learn as you go, but you’ve got to try to be really good as you go."

LET'S GO KINGS !!!

- UPCOMING SCHEDULE -

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Cannot. Let. Up.

To show they have the drive necessary in the playoffs, the Kings MUST be merciless tonight. Not stupid, not putting themselves on the PK, but merciless in putting the Oilers away tonight.

Considering the prospect of playing again tomorrow after not getting to sleep until 5AM, I'd say this game of the two is the game to win.

Plus the prospect of putting even more pressure on San Jose is just too delicious to pass up.

GO KINGS!

Who would everyone rather have light up the oilers, Fraser or Penner? Personally I would rather it be Penner.
I really don't think Edmonton could care less as they were winners in both those deals reguardless.

Hordichuk, Eager and Sutton? We counter that with Clifford and Nolan...ugh. Those guys have nothing to play for and will be running guys. This might have been one of those that Westgarth should have played.

Lines have not been confirmed. Sutter said yesterday, that he'll see who the Oilers have in their line up and then, he'll make his decision. I think we might see Westgarth.

Remember when John Scott was going to hammer the Kings last time we played Chicago because we didnt dress Westgarth? What did he get, 3 minutes of ice time and 2 penalty minutes?

Exactly, Westgarth in the lineup wouldn't stop them from taking runs either. Hopefully he's still scratched.

Johnny I know you have a thing for fighters, but really the Kings should be dictating the the Oilers, not the other way around. Really, what's Hordichuk or Sutton going to do? They can barely move, good luck to them even catching anybody, nevermind running someone. Eager is a similarly a joke, these guys are not going to do anything. I wouldn't worry about it, that line will play 5 minutes struggling to get the puck out of their own end, who cares? Edmonton is a dead team, no need to bother with fighting these clowns.

EDIT: Also is the new construction girl....an elf? hahaha

This game scares the crap out of me....oilers can score....they have played awesome against us...

And the whole Carter thing, we can all come up with alot of what ifs, but realistically this is a big hole to fill....he complimented our top six quite well...and brad fricken richardson will not be the answer...someone (anze, mike) need to step up in carters absence.....

We won't be playing a 1-0 game against the nuge and crew.....

Just fricken win

Oilers have been playing lights out in general lately.

This Edmonton team scares me a little bit. Hopefully we don't take them lightly.
