I'm glad they are losing its the complete lack of effort and heart. They aren't in the playoffs they should be makin the teams they are playing pay. They are as soft as butter.

When we had guys like Dominic Moore we saw a late season push because these guys desperately needed to earn jobs for the coming season. Nevermind confidence, where's all the hustle where guys are just going full tilt to show they belong? Seems like they feel they'll have job security cause of the lack of time they give the Marlies or they just don't want to be Leafs...

Lack of time how? To develop or try and take their role? Seems like plenty of Marlies have been given the opportunity to earn jobs and they've either failed to do or played just well enough to stay up with the big club.

Yep, it's why I won't complain about any players. The best thing they can do for us is to tank and mail it in. Good job guys!! Come back ready to play next year though.

It's the lack of effort on most nights that is unacceptable.

Columbus will get the 1st overall pick. But they are beating Detroit and trying their damnedest to be a tough team to play every night.

Have we done that?

How many nights in the past 24 games, can you look at the Leafs and say the effort was definitely there?

There have been far too many nights where this team just hasn't shown up. I hate using the phrase "didn't show up", because it implies that the players' effort isn't there and that in and of itself is very unfair.

But there's no other way to describe it; the effort and the compete level isn't there.

It's one thing to be beaten by skill, but we aren't losing because we aren't skilled enough. We are losing because we are getting outworked all over the ice

This may hurt now, but this is so much better than finishing 9th or 10th.

This is a blessing in disguise...a particularly brilliant disguise.

For those who don't understand it, there aren't any players on this team in the league of the names you mentioned. Some may have well known names and make obscene amounts of money, but they aren't in the same league.
Which is why the Leafs are now playing like they are.

The Leafs are only giving me what I want now because my expectations for the year are no longer a team that wins. So I am rooting for a draft pick who may some day be talked about with the names listed above.

No. I wanted playoffs. And they didn't give that.

Consolation prize is not as much fun as winning prize.

I wanted a top pick, sure. But I wanted the team to be GOOD and finish last. Not be BAD and finish last!

Everything is fine with me except the player bashing... I dont like that.

Many good young resources in the franchise and a top pick.

Exactly what they needed to do.

The first half of this season shows that the talent is there... The mental side needs to be repaired. When everyone stopped believing in them they did too...

Yea, the amount of poison being spewed is disheartening.

Urgh, the current players feel complacent because the Marlies are not getting extensive call ups.

And while we're at it, don't kid yourself. There's nothing special brewing down there outside of Kadri. There's probably no one on that roster that will surpass a Clarke MacArthur as a softie forward with average production and poor consistency or a Nikolai Kulemin as an inconsistent big body 2nd-3rd liner with a lack of finish. Joe Colborne looks like he's putting himself into the suspect category more than an actual impact prospect, and the whole playoff push is spear headed by AHL farmhands. On defense, maybe Blacker is something to get excited about. Everyone else is more depth fluff. No amount of incubation is going to turn a rock into diamond.

I'm afraid if they actually put in the effort, they might pull out a win...not needed at this point.

Seems like a weird complaint given Boyce, Dupuis, Crabb, Frattin and now Ashton's time with the Leafs. Not much on the back-end, but I wouldn't expect it. How many players did you expect to get long looks and push players for jobs? Even Kadri's had 20+ games to steal a spot.
