It will be an epic, awesome, incomparable, classic game. A showdown for the highest draft pick, a duel between the worst and the even worse than worst. A must see. I know I will watch.

It will be our own little version of the playoffs. Though I must say given our performance the past couple games I like our chances. We out-tanked the hell out of the hurricanes.

It's kind of sad, isn't it? These two teams are 14th & 15th in the East, and two of the worst teams in the NHL. Three Canadian clubs will pick in the top 5: Edmonton, Montreal & Toronto. I can't remember the last time both the Canadiens & Leafs were so horrible together. Both missed the play-offs in 2006-2007 but still reached the 90 pt. mark. Usually when the Leafs suck, we're a good team, and when we suck they're a good team. This year, we both suck. That doesn't happen too often.

The only 2 years that I can find where they were both bad were 1996-1997 when the Habs finished with 77 pts, Leafs with 68, and 1983-84 when the Habs finished with 75 pts, and Leafs 61. Interestingly, the Habs made the playoffs both years getting into the 2nd rd. in 1997 and the conference finals in 1984 (Steve Rooney anyone? lol), while the Leafs missed the playoffs both those years.

It's a unique year in that they are both bad and they will both miss the playoffs. I can't find another season quite like this one.

That's what I say.

Exciting and competitive... yet falling short by 1.

Winning is out. Losing is the new fad around here.

Get with the program.

Nice first post, LOL.

Cole's take on tonight's game:

Quote:
Cole said he doesn't expect Gauthier's dismissal to fire up the team, but it should serve as a warning for anyone who wants to be on the roster next season.

"I don't know if you can really just carry over what happened into tonight's game," said Cole, who has scored a career-high 31 goals in his first season with Montreal. "I think that if anything, as a group, everyone should be more aware of the fact that everyone's being evaluated top to bottom in our organization. There should be pressure to play every night.
Gorges take on tonight's game:

Quote:
"We came to the rink this morning knowing we had a big game tonight against a good hockey team," Gorges said. "That's what we're trying to focus our energy and our minds on tonight, making sure we come out and have a strong game and a strong showing.

"It's a new beginning starting today."
Hmm, who will be right? At the very least I'm gonna give props to Cole for not sounding like a robot and telling it how it is.

I know where he's coming from. I am on day 5 of it and I usually get over the annual flu in 2-3 days. My one year old has it too and it has hit him hard. So if White is out because of it, I can understand. This thing has the power to take down a rhino.

I don't feel pain when watching Rene play. I feel numbness. I'm guessing that's the way he feels too watching him glide down the boards letting the slight cool breeze of a nice stroll on an ice sheet just gently freezing his toes to a feeling of numbness.

And people thought AK46 was a slacker of the worst kind.

No because that would give them an excuse in case they get reamed come playoffs. On more than one front, considering McD is aparently the next Suter.

Cole just said what all the Montreal players are thinking and what the fans should be thinking, about the really good people losing their jobs due to the team's performance. It takes a real man to step up and express himself that clearly in the eyes of the nation.

St-Denis just did an interview. He seemed really happy to be called up, but he also seems to feel really bad for leaving the Bulldogs shorthanded.

Seems like a really good team guy.

You know that the leafs and our pick will be compared till the end of time right? If we take Galchenyuk and they take Grigorenko it will spawn about a thousand threads and it will never end. Corsi numbers will blot out the sun.

How the **** did our owner approve the McDonagh trade? I remember when it happened and McDonagh's name wasn't mentioned and I STILL hated it. When I heard McDonagh was involved, I wanted to cry.

Now it just makes me angry.

Gomez is by far one of the worst players to ever wear the Habs sweater.

Gainey should have lost his job for even CONSIDERING that trade.

A bit off topic but the announcers were just talked about McDonagh and it got me fired up.
