Awoke in at 2:30 this morning. First day of turkey season. Should be in the woods and settled at 5:30. Turkeys fly down at 5:50. If all goes well both my partner and I will be tagged out and done by 7:00.
It never goes well. So, I expect the unannounced thunderstorm to hit at 6:00, the turkeys will scatter, I'll be soaked in the downpour and the only thing left to extinguish the rage will be tonight's game.
Was cleaning out the storage locker this weekend. Came across one of my favourite hockey console games. "NHL Hitz 2002". It's almost cartoon-like the way the physics work, but that's what made it the most fun. Exaggerated slap shots, hits through the glass, and you literally go on fire after you land the hattrick. Great game.
Legwand's winger was Andreas Johansson. Wow that's a name I haven't heard in quite some time.
Why do I have to live in the center of douchbaggery? It's like the sputum of the Jersey Shore and Long Island spills it's fetted diseased span on this area.

I know a girl from Western NY that lived in Nashville for a year and she maintains that she never realized how douchey people were up there until she came here.

It can't be stopped!
Luckily, we get very few of these types in Canada.
Something about the 49th parallel that acts as a barrier. Thank jebus.

At that time A.J. was considered a legit offensive threat for the Preds. My how times have changed!!!
...and people wonder why Legwand didn't score more? If he was drafted by an established team, he's probably looking at another 12-15 points each year in the first five seasons. Sitting somewhere between 550-575 for career probably. Still not an awesome scorer, but definitely a consistent 50 pointer.

I'm the guy that gets the newest game immediately every year haha. Me and my friends have been playing together as a team online against people since the 05 game.
anyone interest in online sim hockey is always free to join my league. We're expanding by 8 teams for next season. Kinda like fantasy, but doesn't rely on real NHL stats for game results, just simulation based on player ratings (which are based on NHL stats).

I have Hitz 20-03. Such a fun game. I miss that series. Remember the epic failure that was NHL Hitz Pro, when they tried to do a "real" hockey game because of pressure from the NHL? That's what killed Midway.

The anthem does NOT, repeat NOT sound good as a folk song..... this rendition evoked images of yuppies getting out of BMW SUVs to go on a nature hike, not resilient soldiers who survived a night of artillery fire..

My friend tried to secure the entire property for just us, but two other guys were out there as well. One of them (The nice one. The other being walking, talking proof that birth control is awesome) got a bird at about 7:00. At that same time, we had a small flock with three legal birds working towards our decoys. At the shot they jumped and ran about 100 yards behind us and remained there. They'd respond to every call but refused to come closer.
My buddy and I saw roughly 20 birds, three or four of which would have been legal. None came close enough for a shot. The plan worked perfectly except for the distance. We were 50 yards from victory.
There's another month and a half in the season so there may be more stories coming up.

I never knew there were turkey decoys.......kind of like those duck decoys?

Duck decoys seem to be more necessary. Unless you're pass-shooting ducks moving through their travel routes it's hard to call them in without decoys. Turkey decoys are more of a distraction than an actual attractor. If you call in a turkey they will come to the general area, but without a decoy they can roam around and never come near you. I bought one because I was tired of calling birds in then having them walk back and forth behind me before roaming away. Sometimes they work and the bird runs right to it. I've also had birds see them and immediately run away.
